Calhoun is a small city in northwestern Georgia and the county seat of Gordon County. This dreamy little town calls itself “the Land of the Cherokee”, a reference to the fact that the land beneath it once belonged to the Cherokee Confederation. When President Andrew Jackson forced the removal of the Cherokee people from the region, Calhoun was settled and named for the late senator, John C. Calhoun.

Calhoun remains a peaceful and pleasant community a little over an hour's drive from Atlanta and an hour's drive south of Chattanooga, Tennessee. It has made a name for itself as a popular vacation destination in the summertime for a variety of reasons. Encircled by glorious nature and steeped in a long legacy of turmoil and history, Calhoun is a fascinating place to rent an RV, while learning about a wide range of American history.
