The Great Outdoors

When you book an RV in Dillard, you will have access to several unique recreational locales, including Black Rock Mountain State Park, located just ten minutes South of Dillard in Mountain City. One very unique quality of this park is that on clear days, you can see four states from the overlook; Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Within the State Park, there are five peaks that exceed 5,000 feet in elevation, making it the highest State Park in Georgia.

Just thirteen minutes south of Dillard in Clayton, is where you will find Warwoman Dell. If you're looking for a great place to hike or picnic, this is the spot for you. Warwoman Dell is home to the Bartram Trail (37 miles.) and the Warwoman Dell Nature Trail (.4 miles), which makes it an excellent place for both beginner and experienced hikers. You'll also find a pavilion for gatherings, a perfect spot to park your travel trailer rental from Dillard, but it is first come, first serve, so get there early!

For those avid white water rafting and those looking to try it for the first time, Dillard has four different rivers that you can raft down! Note: 33 feet is the max length RV for this campground. There are numerous outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, fishing, paddling, and climbing located nearby.

Cross Creek Campground, located in Mountain City, GA is another option and is a 50+ community. Should you be looking for peace and quiet in the North Georgia Mountains, you may want to check out Cross Creek Campground. Amenities include full hook-ups for your RV, WiFi, shower houses, and Cable TV. Be sure and make reservations at Cross Creek Campground, as they only have 22 sites!

Should you need a quick overnight stay, consider Walmart, truck stops, or larger grocery stores. There are several Walmarts located within 10 miles of Dillard that may allow overnight camping. Just check with the manager for permission before settling for the night.

Exploring the City

The Dillard House, located in Dillard, is an excellent attraction for all ages. Here you’ll find many amenities for both you and the family, no matter what your interest. The Dillard House Restaurant is known by the locals to have some of the best southern-style food that you can get. It’s so good that it’s received awards from the Southern Living Magazine as the best breakfast/brunch restaurant and the best Southern Favorite Restaurant. After your meal, enjoy the vast array of on-site activities such as horseback riding, horseshoe pit, two fully-stocked trout ponds, and a swimming pool.

Foxfire Museum, located just a few miles North of Clayton in Mountain City, is unique to other museums. It is located on 106 acres and is mostly outdoors. On this property, you’ll find ten original (relocated) pioneer log cabins and other structures that were built with period-correct materials and constructed using traditional methods. Historians will find tools, artifacts, housewares, toys, and folk art around the property.

While Dillard is a very small town, it is mere minutes from Clayton, which will provide you with many options no matter what your interest.
