Duvall is a city in King County, Washington State, which was started by two brothers, Francis and James Duvall, who arrived in 1871 to log the area where the town now resides. Around 1909, the homes and businesses of Cherry Valley were relocated to Duvall in order to allow the continuation of a railroad line along Snoqualmie River. The newly added community was briefly called Cosgrove, before becoming a part of Duvall. This was followed by the addition of a train depot, a schoolhouse, several hotels, and other businesses. In 1968, a concert was held on the grounds of a Duvall farm where a piano was lowered from a helicopter; locals today refer to the concert as “the piano drop”.

Book an RV in King County and you are ready to begin exploring the unique northwest geography that is Washington State. There are other towns and cities that are also interesting and worth visiting. Monroe originally based its economy on logging and sawmills, then agriculture and, more recently, on the influx of strip malls and major retail outlets. Sultan, which originated as a logging community, was the site of the 1968 Sky River Rock Festival, which attracted musicians such as Carlos Santana, Muddy Waters, Buffy St Marie, and 20,000 hippies. Carnation is surrounded by forests, open fields, rivers, and mountains, and is distinguished by its commitment to open spaces within its boundaries. Redmond is the home of computer giants Microsoft and Nintendo, and the state's only velodrome. Bothell likes its community events and keeps them going all year round, from the Music in the Park (summer) concert series to its Riverfest, Summits bike ride, and many more. Your Duvall camper rental is the perfect vantage point from which you can see and enjoy all of this and much more.

The Great Outdoors

Edmonds City Park & Edmonds Marsh are two vastly different outdoor recreation areas situated next to each other near Edmonds, WA. The city park is a fully developed recreation area with picnic tables and shelters, restrooms, a nearby bus stop and a wide variety of activities and amenities. The marsh, located directly across the road on Highway 104, is a reclaimed and mostly undeveloped nature reserve. It was a saltwater marsh that was blocked by urban development for many years, turning it into a mostly freshwater wetland. Restoration has reverted it mostly back to its saltwater condition, and its combined saltwater and freshwater vegetation support a variety of wildlife. Trails through the marsh are made of elevated boardwalk and asphalt walkway, from which visitors can observe the vast number of bird species that exist here.

Paradise Valley Conservation Area is a combination of forest and wetland in the Bear Creek Watershed. Trails within the area can be used for multiple activities (hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding), although some are designated for hiking only. The area is an important part of efforts to protect an essential salmon stream, among other projects.

Saint Edward State Park is a former seminary on the eastern shore of Lake Washington. Hikers and bikers can take to the wooded trails while an open grass area is perfect for a variety of activities. The lake is open for canoeing and kayaking; history and architecture buffs will be interested in the brick building that housed the seminary until 1976. It was the first credited Catholic seminary university in the United States. Keep your Duvall travel trailer rental nearby and you can finish the day's activities in style and comfort.

Exploring The City

There is plenty to see and do in Duvall and nearby, so when your legs just can't take another step, have a look at some of the local breweries and wineries. One of the breweries allows customers to try “flights” (shot glass samples) of the different beers they make; food trucks are often nearby or you can have food delivered from somewhere close by. There are parks and museums; one museum specializes in wartime aircraft, and many of the exhibits are still functional. While you're here, pencil in some time to take your Duvall motorhome rental out for a spin on the highway. This is how RV vacations got their reputation and for a good reason.

When it's time for dinner, Duvall still has what you need. There is a wide range of cuisines on hand and prices range from inexpensive to moderately priced. One local diner specializes in seafood but has steak on their menu too; diners can expect to enjoy their meal in a relaxing and unhurried atmosphere. Guests finding their way here should start with the Bang Bang shrimp appetizer. Another local venue offers comfort food just the way you like it, from turkey dinners with mashed potatoes to all of your favorite breakfast items. If you eat here, be sure to give the pumpkin pancakes a try. Portions are generous and you will likely take some of your meal home to your Duvall luxury RV rental, but this is a bonus. Great food snacked on from the comfort of a lawn chair should be part of every vacation.
