If you’re visiting the Seattle area, rent a motorhome in Kenmore and you’ll be less than half an hour from the big city, while enjoying a relaxing, small city atmosphere.

Situated on the northeastern shore of Lake Washington, Kenmore has a storied past. In the 1920s, during America’s period of prohibition, it was the site of many illegal speakeasies, as prohibited beverages could easily be dumped into the lake if the authorities showed up. It was also home to a couple of nudist camps during this period. During the Great Depression, it became known as a “Voucherville” as many residents worked for the government and were paid with a housing voucher rather than cash. Today it’s a quiet bedroom community for those who wish to avoid the higher rent prices in Seattle and prefer a more low-key lifestyle.

As anyone that’s ever driven in downtown Seattle can tell you, the city is built on some pretty steep hills and the streets can be quite tight. If you can, it’s best to leave your Kenmore RV rental back at the park when visiting the city. Seattle’s bus system is more than sufficient for getting around to most attractions and you can ride into downtown in less than an hour.
