The town of Orting in Washington is lovingly known as a “Small Town with a Big View," and is one of the states oldest cities. The town is nestled in the foothills of Mt Rainier, between both the Puyallup and Carbon Rivers. RV Parks

Rainbow RV Resort, located on Lake Tanwax, is nestled into the foothills of Mt. Rainier. The park has some great fishing facilities with a dock, rental boats and many other amenities for all your fishing needs with a year-round fishing lake. There are also many nearby attractions for the whole family including the NW Trek Animal Preserve, the Elbe Steam Train, Pt. Defiance Zoo and many others. RV sites are full hook-ups with water, sewer, 30-amp electricity, and cable TV. There are also a number of dry hook-ups available if that is what you would prefer for your RV rental from Orting.

South Prairie Creek RV Park is another good option, located nearby to Bonney Lake, Orting and Buckley. Nearby there are many shopping and entertainment options, and there are over 120 sites to choose from, all of which have full hook-ups. Running through the park is a lovely creek, and there is access to the Foothills Trail which runs right through the South Prairie.

Washington State Fair also provides overnight RV parking and is located close to Orting. Sites have full power, sewer, and water. Although RV parking is available year round, be sure to book in your camper rental from Orting early if you are hoping to stay in the RV park around the time of the state fair, as sites tend to get booked up very far in advance.

The Great Outdoors

An icon in the Washington landscape, Mount Rainier stands proudly in Mt Rainier National Park, which is easily reachable as a day trip in your RV rental from Orting WA. Subalpine wildflower meadows ring this icy volcano, with the lower slopes covered in an ancient forest, all of which lies waiting to be discovered. Take a stroll through the temperate inland rainforest in the spring, gaze upon the waterfalls in the summer months, discover the changing colors in winter and have fun skiing and snowboarding in the winter.

Tiger Mountain State Forest lies to the north of town, covering a huge 13,745 acres. The forest and nearby Raging River State Forest offers a diverse range of recreational activities such as mountain biking, hang gliding, paragliding, hiking, horseback riding and much more. Some of the most popular hikes in the area are the Raging River Trail System and Tiger Summit, both of which provide stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

Although a lot smaller than the other two parks, Flaming Geyser Park still has so much to offer its many visitors. Rafters and kayakers glide past the banks of the Green River. Surprisingly, this suburban jewel is known for its radio-controlled aircraft flying activities, but it also offers beautiful hiking and horse trails, fields for picnicking and recreation, and plenty of swimming and fishing spots. The park is featured around the unique geological feature of a "flaming geyser," which is good to see even though the flame no longer burns, and is well worth the trip in your luxury RV rental from Orting.

Exploring the City

The town is small, but there are a number of shops and eateries to enjoy, from independent businesses to national chains. Taking a walk along the main streets are a lovely way to spend the day, and you’ll likely be able to sport the Orting Bell Tower, which was erected in 1989 to celebrate its 100th anniversary.

Throughout the year there are a number of festivals that are enjoyed by the locals and visitors alike. In spring, the Daffodil festival is quite a sight to behold, in summer the Kingsmen Car Show comes to town, in autumn everyone dons their favorite costumes ready for the Pumpkin festival and throughout the month of December the Christmas festival is a lot of fun. Check out the calendar of events before booking your Orting travel trailer rental.

One of the best things to do in town is to pay a visit to the Orting Valley Farmers Market, set in beautiful farmland with a view of Mt Rainier. Shopping in the market is a great way to preserve local farms and farmland while also supporting small businesses. It is a great place to stock up on the freshest of produce, from vegetables to coffee, and also pick up some street food that is hot and ready to eat while soaking up the atmosphere.
