Pasco is located in southeastern Washington, about 85 miles southeast of Yakima, and is part of the “Tri-Cities” region, which also includes Kennewick and Richland. The city sits along the meeting point of the Columbia River and the Snake River, making it an easy home base for exploring the natural beauty of Washington State. However, although the Tri-Cities region is surrounded by the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest, it’s home to many historical sites as well as plenty of golf courses and wineries, making it a perfect place to kick back, relax, and enjoy the scenery in your Pasco rental RV.

Discover Pasco

The Great Outdoors

To nature lovers, Pasco is best known for being the home of Sacajawea State Park. Situated at the intersection of the Columbia and Snake Rivers, this scenic park offers easy access to water recreation activities along the river, such as boating, swimming, and fishing, as well as nearly two miles of hiking trails, horseshoe pits, and wildlife viewing opportunities. This park also has an interesting history as the point where Lewis and Clark’s Corps of Discovery met local Native American tribes, and the park honors it with the Sacajawea Interpretive Center, which features interactive exhibits and installations throughout the grounds. History lovers should also visit the Manhattan Project National Historical Park B Reactor. This park offers free informative tours that educate visitors on the creation of the atomic bomb.

When you rent an RV and you want to get deeper into the wilderness of southeastern Washington, visit the Hanford Reach National Monument and the Juniper Dunes Wilderness. Hanford Reach is northwest of the city along the Columbia River, and it’s home to unique wildlife that has adapted to the dry shrub-steppe climate. Visitors to Hanford Reach can also engage in a variety of activities, including seasonal quail hunting, wildlife watching trails, and canoeing and kayaking. RVers looking for something more adventurous, however, should head to the Juniper Dunes Wilderness. Visitors can ride all-terrain vehicles along massive sand dunes or hike along miles of scenic wilderness trails; however, anyone hiking the park should use caution since the trails are not maintained. If you book an RV in Pasco, you can easily explore the historic and scenic parks around southeastern Washington.

RV Parks

Pasco’s close proximity to the wilderness makes it a hub for RVers in southeastern Washington. If you want to park the rental RV in Pasco, check out the Franklin County RV Park or the Pasco/Tri-Cities KOA Journey. The Franklin County RV Park offers basic amenities like full hookups and a laundromat, and is within minutes of I-182. The Pasco/Tri-Cities KOA is also located near I-182 and offers more amenities and activities, such as a hot tub, sauna, and fishing area.

Other options in the Tri-Cities area to set up camp with the Pasco camper rental are Hood Park, the Moon River RV Resort, and Columbia Sun RV Resort. Hood Park offers a traditional campground atmosphere with a variety of hookup options along Lake Wallula and the Snake River, making it a scenic home base with easy access to the city. If you want more amenities, however, head to Moon River or Columbia Sun. Both RV parks have plenty of full-hookup campsites as well as wireless internet, laundry, and on-site activities.

If you want to spend a night or two in nature with the rental motorhome near Pasco, WA, head to the Horn Rapids Campground, Scooteney Park and Campground, or Charbonneau Park. Horn Rapids is a short drive away in West Richland, and campers can enjoy miles of trails along the Yakima River and easy access to Hanford Reach. Scooteney Park and Campground is north of the city on the Scooteney Reservoir, a peaceful fishing lake off of Route 17. If you want to stay a bit closer to Pasco, check out Charbonneau Park along Lake Sacajawea, which is minutes from the Snake and Columbia Rivers. Most spaces in these three RV campgrounds offer electrical hookups and dumping sites, but be sure to reserve in advance during peak months when plenty of RVers come to explore the Tri-Cities area.

Exploring the City

Although many visit Pasco for its scenery and watersports, the Tri-Cities area has plenty of activities for when you need a day to relax. The area’s cool, dry climate makes it a top destination for golfers across the nation with courses lining the Columbia River. The area also boasts hundreds of wineries within an hour radius. If golf and wine aren’t your style or you have kids in tow, check out the REACH Museum. This museum features exhibits about the history of southeastern Washington, from the floods of the last ice age that shaped the area millions of years ago to the impact of the Manhattan Project on the area during the 1940s. Since the Tri-Cities area is relatively small, you can easily get around in your Pascon motorhome rental, making it a convenient way to explore Pasco and southeastern Washington.
