Saluda was officially founded in 1850, but the first home was built in 1837 by Thomas Waring Fauntleroy, and it still stands in the center of the town. Exploring the Town

Middlesex County Museum and Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation, education, and exhibition of the historical objects, artifacts, photographs, and memorabilia of Middlesex County. This is one of the biggest historical museums in Virginia, and it shows over 400 years of history in temporary and permanent exhibitions. Here you can learn about African American history, Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI, and WWII eras, and tales of the most famous resident, Lt. General "Chesty" Puller, the most decorated Marine in Corps history.

In Saluda, you can also visit the retirement house of Lt. General "Chesty" Puller, who retired in 1955. His former home attracts visitors from all of the US, especially Marines who want to see where the famous “Chesty” lived. He was buried nearby, at the Christ Episcopal Church.

The Busch Gardens amusement park is open year-round and is located just a short drive from Saluda. Here you can enjoy thrilling coasters, shows, restaurants, and so much more. There is also a water park with water slides, a lazy river, wave pool, and kids' play areas. They also offer different seasonal events throughout the year.
