Often referred to as the “Heart of the Kitsap Peninsula”, Silverdale is one of the most divine cities in the entire state of Washington. Surrounded by lush evergreen groves and towering snowy peaks, you get a fine blend of natural beauty with all the conveniences of a city.

Silverdale is about 40 miles north of Tacoma, and just across the Puget Sound from Seattle, one of the most famous metropolitan areas in the world, making it a fantastic place to rent an RV for exploration purposes. Since Silverdale lies on the banks of the Dyes Inlet, which itself is connected to the Puget Sound, you can hop on the ferry in Bremerton and visit Seattle with virtually no hassle and enjoy one of the most gorgeous waterways imaginable.

Book an RV in Silverdale and you can drive around the Pacific Northwest with your own itinerary, with the freedom and flexibility to see and do what you want to. You can pop in to town and attend the Kitsap County Fair at the end of summer, and head in nearly any direction to discover the magic of the Evergreen State.

Discover Silverdale

Experience the Sites and Scenery

Right from the get-go, you’ll be able to see why Silverdale is such an ideal place to rent an RV. Before you even leave town, the fresh seaside air and the magnificent views will charm you into wanting to head for the mountains or rocky shoreline immediately. Any of the town’s communal spaces or well-maintained parks are a fabulous place to start when you arrive. Old Mill Park has lovely views of the Dyes Inlet in addition to its rocky coastline, and playground for children. At Silverdale Waterfront Park, you can find two acres of waterfront beach access, or begin your hike along the Clear Creek Trail, which winds its way through town for eight miles of scenic walking or bicycle riding.

Over on Bainbridge Island, you can take your Silverdale camper rental to Gazzam Lake Nature Preserve to utilize the vast system of trails connecting the 444-acre park. This vast, untouched wilderness was purchased and is maintained in order to preserve and protect the marshy wetlands and forests from development.

Down by the city of Olympia, about an hour’s drive away, Capitol State Forest attracts many visitors each year for off-road motorcycling, mountain biking, horseback riding, or simply to observe the unique Mima Mounds the forest is known for. These odd geological features look like a series of oval earth mounds dotting the land.

Olympic National Forest is very close to town and easy to reach with your Silverdale RV rental, so don’t hesitate to visit the sprawling ecological treasure to see for yourself. The temperate rainforests in Olympic National Forest are some of the rainiest places in the country, drenched in over 220 inches of rain a year. Next door to the massive forest is Olympic National Park, which is impossible to miss when in any of Washington’s coastal cities. The inescapable presence of the hulking Olympic Mountains is breathtaking. Mount Rainier National Park is farther away but well worth a visit when you rent an RV in Silverdale, provided you have the time and energy to venture out to central Washington.

City Attractions

The town of Silverdale is primarily centered around the Kitsap Mall which serves as the peninsula’s largest shopping center. The indoor mall has 110 retail stores and eateries. Furthermore, the massive mall is surrounded by more local businesses outside the premises making it a main focal point for the town.

While there are not too many attractions within the small city of Silverdale, it is fortunate enough to share a few with the surrounding area. Bremerton has the USS Turner Joy Museum, and the Puget Sound Navy Museum, both of which are easy to find. The USS Turner Joy is a decommissioned naval destroyer ship coming in at over 400 feet in length. The ship now serves as a living, outdoor museum where visitors can see what life on board was like for the thousands of sailors that once called it home. The Puget Sound Navy Museum features thousands of objects on display pertaining to the building of ships in the nearby shipyard, which has been a significant source of naval equipment for ages. It is also one of 10 museums funded entirely by the US Navy.

Bainbridge Island has a few fun items to check off your list, namely the Bainbridge Island Historical Museum and the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. The art collection proudly displays indigenous artwork from the coastal tribes that inhabit the area, while also focusing on many other types of art. The Bainbridge Island Historical Museum helps shape the colorful history of Kitsap County and all that comes with it.

Where to Park It

Don’t worry about finding a place to park your luxury motorhome rental near Silverdale. Scenic Beach State Park has 121 acres of waterfront space for camping in your Silverdale rental motorhome, but there are no hookups or electricity so you will be missing the luxuries of upscale campgrounds in exchange for peace, quiet, and amazing sunsets.

Eagle Tree RV Park is open all year and just minutes away from the Seattle ferry. The sites in the RV park are private and wooded. Fay Bainbridge Park & Campground is on the water's edge, where, on clear days, you can see Mount Rainier in the distance. Any of the state forests or national parks in Washington contain ample space for camping, too, so you’ll have plenty of options when you rent an RV near Silverdale, WA.
