The Texan city of Tomball owes much of its heritage to German pioneers, who settled in its pinewood forests in the 19th century, and to the old railroad which opened for use in the 1900s. In fact, Tomball even takes its name from the engineer who designed the stretch of railway line passing through the area. Aside from the railway, many people choose to book an RV in Tomball to explore the attractions in the surrounding area. You can drive between local craft breweries, shopping malls, glittering lakes, and recreational stadiums or take your Tomball luxury RV rental into the wilderness to discover the magnificent forests and preserves of Harris County.  The historic city of Tomball is located less than 30 miles from Houston’s city center so when you rent a motorhome in Tomball, you’ll also be able to visit all the attractions of the Texan Capital.

Discover Tomball

The Great Outdoors

One of the most famous national forests in Texas happens to be located just next door to Tomball. The Sam Houston National Forest offers over 163,000 acres of beautiful pine forest, with an extensive network of trails for hiking and biking, as well as opportunities for swimming, sailing, and paddling. Being less than 50 miles from Houston, the park fills with nature lovers from the city during most weekends. Instead of wilderness, the Sam Houston National Forest offers a 22-acre lake, Lake Conroe, and three fully equipped campgrounds, located in the Double Lake, Stubblefield, and Cages recreational areas. One of the main attractions of this national forest is the Lone Star Hiking Trail, which covers a distance of over 100 miles. Adventurous hikers can join the trail, which passes through a combination of swamp, hardwood forest, and open meadows. To reach the national forest ranger stations, take your Tomball RV rental north on Interstate 45 and exit onto FM 1375, where you’ll see brown signs leading to the official park entrance. Here, visitors can register with the park rangers and pick up park maps.

Also, on the outskirts of Tomball is the Matt Family Orchard which hosts over 40-acres of pick-your-own fruit orchards. This is very popular with adults as well as children. Take a day out of your Tomball rental RV vacation to take a tour of the orchard and fill your own basket with figs, peaches, blueberries, blackberries, Asian pears, lemons, and more. Alternatively, take your Tomball motorhome rental south to visit the Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge, near Lake Jackson, to discover diverse ecosystems of coastal plants and creatures, including reptiles, birds, insects, and butterflies.

RV Parks

There are many places where you can park the Tomball motorhome rental in and around the city. RV parks located within a 10-minute drive of Renton’s downtown include the Corral RV Park, Tomball-Rosehill RV Park, Stagecoach RV Park, Rambling Vines RV Parks, and Timber Ridge RV Village. Nearby RV parks are fully equipped with electrical hookups (30/50 amps), sewage and water hookups, restrooms and shower facilities, laundry services, and picnic areas. Some, such as the Corral RV Park, also offer free WiFi and cable TV, on-site mini-market and gas station, access to recreational areas, and a store for RV parts. Fallbrook RV Park is a luxury resort close to Houston and features a private lake, swimming pool, jacuzzi, an exercise suite, outdoor cooking facilities, wooden cabins, and a dog-washing station.

For a tranquil place to park the Tomball rental RV, drive to the Woodland Lakeside RV Park. The site is located only two miles from the dining and shopping facilities and Interstate 45, yet it maintains a peaceful atmosphere where campers can wake up to the sound of the lake's wildlife. The Magnolia Forest RV Park is in a similarly relaxing environment with 63 RV hookups set between 32 acres of natural woodland.

Tomball’s Historic Downtown area is a world of its own. With a tranquil atmosphere and filled with elegant architecture dating back to the 19th century, visitors may well feel like they’ve taken a step back in time. Wander through the charming buildings and churches and pay a visit to the Tomball Museum Center to learn about Tomball’s earliest settlers. Downtown Tomball also offers shoppers an array of antique shops and independent clothing boutiques. Each Saturday downtown Tomball also hosts the weekly farmers market, where you can pick up fresh fruits and vegetables, handmade textiles, coffee beans, and homemade soaps, jams, and pasta.
