Bakersfield River Run RV Park in Bakersfield, California, is a big-rig-friendly campground along the Kern River at the intersection of Highway 99 and Rosedale Highway in Kern County — a well-positioned, full-hookup, pull-through and back-in campground serving road trippers, snowbirds, and weekend travelers in the San Joaquin Valley's southern agricultural city that stands at the junction of the Central Valley's Interstate 5 and Highway 99 corridor and the mountain access routes to Sequoia National Park and the Southern Sierra Nevada. Bakersfield's Kern County position as the southern anchor of the San Joaquin Valley gives the campground the practical interstate and highway access that the RV travel community specifically values in the California central-corridor routing between Los Angeles and the northern California destinations. Full-hookup pull-through and back-in sites with big-rig accessibility, the Kern River scenic setting, and the Highway 99-Rosedale Highway intersection convenience give River Run the complete travel-stop and extended-stay infrastructure that the Bakersfield location's highway confluence specifically enables. The Kern River's presence through the property gives the campground the riverside setting that softens the surrounding San Joaquin Valley agricultural landscape, and the riparian cottonwood and willow corridor that the Kern River sustains through Bakersfield provides the specific greenway character that distinguishes the river setting from the surrounding valley floor's irrigated agriculture. Pets are welcome. The Kern River, originating in the Southern Sierra Nevada's Kern River Canyon above Lake Isabella, descends through one of California's most dramatic mountain gorges before reaching the Bakersfield valley floor — the Kern River Canyon's Class IV and V whitewater above Lake Isabella sustains the commercial rafting industry that established the Kernville whitewater tourism economy, and the lower Kern River's warm-water recreation at Lake Isabella in the canyon gives Bakersfield residents the most accessible mountain lake escape in the Southern California inland corridor. The Kern River Parkway Trail along the urban Kern River section gives cyclists and pedestrians the linear park access through Bakersfield's east side. Sequoia National Park, 60 miles northeast of Bakersfield via Highway 65 and the General's Highway in Tulare County, protects the most massive living organisms on Earth — the Giant Sequoia trees of the Giant Forest, where the General Sherman Tree's 52,500 cubic feet of volume makes it the largest tree by volume in the world in a grove of 2,000-year-old sequoias whose circumference at ground level exceeds 100 feet. The Giant Forest Museum and the Congress Trail through the Giant Sequoia grove give visitors the complete sequoia encounter in the most concentrated old-growth sequoia stand in the national park system. Bakersfield River Run RV Park serves guests year-round in Kern County's semi-arid California climate, where the mild winters attract the southbound snowbird market from the Pacific Northwest and the Central Valley's colder regions and the spring and fall seasons provide the most comfortable temperatures for the Kern River Canyon, Sequoia, and Tehachapi Mountain day-trip range. Buck Owens' Crystal Palace, the legendary Bakersfield Sound museum, bar, and performance venue dedicated to the Bakersfield country music legacy of Buck Owens and Merle Haggard, gives the campground's guests the specific Kern County cultural experience that Bakersfield's unexpected contribution to country music history specifically warrants. Reserve sites ahead for the spring and fall highway travel seasons and the Sequoia National Park peak summer visitation.
