Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Lake Monroe in Bloomington, Indiana, is a full-amenity family campground franchise destination in Monroe County — a resort property offering two swimming pools, a splashground with water slides, a jumping pillow, pedal carts, and the complete family entertainment programming of the Jellystone Park brand in the southern Indiana university and lake recreation corridor where Lake Monroe, Indiana University's Big Ten campus, and Brown County State Park's covered bridge and autumn color give the Bloomington area the most diverse family recreation landscape in central Indiana. Monroe County's Bloomington position on State Road 46 gives the campground the specific dual-market access of the IU parent visit and family leisure camping market and the Lake Monroe boating and fishing market that the largest lake entirely within Indiana sustains. Two swimming pools, a splashground, a jumping pillow, pedal carts, and the Jellystone Park's character-based family entertainment programming give the Lake Monroe property the comprehensive on-site resort experience that the Yogi Bear franchise's national reputation for family camping entertainment specifically delivers — the water recreation and the activity programming give the property the self-contained resort character that families with young children specifically value for the on-site entertainment quality independent of the external day-trip itinerary that the Monroe County location makes available. Pets are welcome. Lake Monroe, four miles east of Bloomington on State Road 446, is Indiana's largest lake — a 10,750-acre Army Corps of Engineers reservoir on Salt Creek whose 150 miles of shoreline, the Paynetown State Recreation Area's swim beach and boat ramp, and the Fairfax State Recreation Area's bass, crappie, and walleye fishing give Monroe County the most comprehensively developed freshwater recreation resource in the southern Indiana state park system. The lake's multiple public access points and the Hardin Ridge Recreation Area's camping on the lake's eastern shore give the Lake Monroe reservoir the full-perimeter access that the Army Corps of Engineers' public recreation mandate specifically provides. Brown County State Park, 20 miles east of Bloomington on State Road 46 in Brown County, is Indiana's largest state park — a 16,000-acre park in the Hoosier Hills' most rugged ridge and hollow terrain that sustains the October fall foliage spectacle that has made the Brown County area Indiana's most visited fall color destination since the Nashville, Indiana, art colony's 1910s discovery of the autumn-red and orange-gold sugar maple forest. The park's 20 miles of equestrian trail, the mountain bike trail system, and the Abe Martin Lodge's full-service mountain resort character give Brown County State Park the four-season recreation programming that extends the visitor season from the spring wildflower bloom through the December holiday season. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Lake Monroe serves guests through Indiana's camping season from April through October, with the summer pool and water recreation season from late June through August sustaining the primary family camping demand and the October Brown County fall foliage season drawing the leaf-peeping visitor market that fills the Monroe-Brown County corridor on the peak fall color weekends from mid-October through early November. Indiana University's home football games at Memorial Stadium from September through November and the Jacobs School of Music's concert programming give the Bloomington campground its cultural event calendar access from the Big Ten university campus. Reserve sites well ahead for IU home football weekends and the peak October fall foliage weekends.
