Holly Beach RV Park

Campground in Cameron, LA • 17 RV Sites

Holly Beach RV Park in Cameron, Louisiana, is a Gulf of Mexico beachside campground 600 feet from the water on Louisiana's Cajun Riviera — a coastal escape in Cameron Parish's remote and ecologically extraordinary western Louisiana Gulf coast where the saltwater marshes, barrier beach, and the Creole Nature Trail All-American Road's wildlife corridor give the Holly Beach area the specific character of the Louisiana coast's least-developed and most wildlife-rich section. Cameron's Cameron Parish position at the mouth of the Calcasieu River estuary on the Gulf gives guests the specific combination of Gulf beach access, the outstanding birding of the Creole Nature Trail's marshland and cheniere oak ridge habitat, and the distinct Cajun coastal culture of the Cameron Parish fishing community that has sustained the Holly Beach area as a Southwest Louisiana coastal tradition. RV sites 600 feet from Holly Beach's Gulf of Mexico shoreline give guests the salty sea breeze, the wave sound, and the laid-back Cajun Riviera coastal character that the Holly Beach area's remoteness preserves in a form that the more commercially developed Texas Gulf coast beaches and the Florida panhandle resort corridors consistently lack — a simple, authentic Gulf coast beach experience in the Louisiana marshland setting that Cameron Parish's geography and the Creole Nature Trail's managed habitat specifically sustain. Pets are welcome. The Creole Nature Trail All-American Road, originating in Sulphur north of Lake Charles, is a 180-mile National Scenic Byway through the coastal prairie, marsh, and Gulf barrier beach country of southwest Louisiana that accesses three National Wildlife Refuges — the Sabine, Cameron Prairie, and Lacassine — and the Holly Beach Gulf shoreline in a loop that wildlife photographers, birdwatchers, and nature tourists make from the Lake Charles base for the migratory songbird fallout and waterfowl concentration that the Louisiana coastal marsh sustains in spring and fall. The spring songbird migration fallout on the Creole Nature Trail's cheniere oak ridges — isolated live oak groves in the marsh that provide the only elevated perches for trans-Gulf migrants arriving exhausted from the 600-mile Gulf crossing — produces the most concentrated spring songbird viewing in the North American continent. The Sabine National Wildlife Refuge, 12 miles east of Holly Beach in Cameron Parish, is the largest National Wildlife Refuge on the Gulf Coast — a 124,511-acre managed freshwater and intermediate marsh complex that sustains the wintering waterfowl concentrations of snow geese, pintail, teal, and canvasback that make the Southwest Louisiana coastal prairie the most productive winter waterfowl habitat in the Gulf Coast flyway. The refuge's Wetland Walkway provides the 1.5-mile walking access to the marsh interior for alligator, muskrat, roseate spoonbill, and wading bird viewing that the open marsh habitat specifically concentrates within sight of the walkway's observation platforms. Holly Beach RV Park serves guests year-round in Cameron Parish's subtropical Gulf coastal climate, where the winter months sustain the waterfowl and winter birding market from December through February and the spring migration from March through May drives the Creole Nature Trail's peak natural history visitor demand. The Holly Beach area's recovery from Hurricane Rita in 2005 and Hurricane Ike in 2008, which nearly destroyed the community, gives the present campground community its specific resilience character — a Coast that rebuilt specifically because the Cajun Riviera's way of life and the fishing and hunting economy sustain a cultural attachment to the place that catastrophe cannot permanently displace. Reserve sites ahead for the spring birding season and the fall duck hunting season when the Cameron Parish coastal accommodation fills.
