Summerhill Farm in Chelan, Washington, is a family-owned RV park and agri-tourism destination operated by the Christensen family in the heart of the Lake Chelan appellation — one of Washington State's most celebrated wine regions and the gateway to a mountain lake of extraordinary depth and scenic character. Lake Chelan stretches over 50 miles through the eastern slope of the North Cascades and plunges to nearly 1,500 feet, making it one of the deepest lakes in North America — a body of water whose clarity, depth, and surrounding mountain scenery create an outdoor environment that rewards visitors in every season. The farm's setting combines the agricultural character of a working Chelan Valley property with the recreational access of a campground positioned for everything the lake corridor offers. RV sites provide the overnight infrastructure while the agri-tourism orientation gives guests a connection to the working landscape of the Chelan fruit and wine country — a valley that produces nationally acclaimed apples, cherries, and wine grapes in the same Columbia Basin sunshine that makes the lake's temperatures ideal for summer swimming and watersports. The Christensens' own investment in the land and the guest experience distinguishes the property from more anonymously managed campgrounds in the region. Lake Chelan's water clarity makes swimming and water recreation directly enjoyable from town — the waterfront in downtown Chelan, minutes from the farm, provides public beach access, boat launches, and a warm-summer lake environment that draws families and watersport enthusiasts from Seattle and the broader Puget Sound region. Fishing for kokanee salmon and lake trout sustains a committed angling community throughout the season, and houseboating on the lake is one of the region's most distinctive multi-day recreation options. The Chelan Valley wine trail encompasses dozens of wineries and tasting rooms spread across the benchlands above the lake, producing estate wines from Riesling, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec that reflect the dry, high-altitude Columbia Basin climate in ways measurably distinct from the Yakima and Walla Walla appellations. The wineries along the south-facing slopes above Chelan combine exceptional viewshed positions with tasting experiences that have built the region's reputation among Pacific Northwest wine travelers specifically seeking alternatives to the better-known wine country corridors. Summerhill Farm is open through the Lake Chelan outdoor season, with summer representing peak demand for both the lake recreation and the winery circuit. Spring in the Chelan Valley brings the annual Blossom Festival when fruit orchards cover the benchlands in white and pink bloom, creating one of the most visually rewarding shoulder-season visits in Washington State. Fall harvest season through September and October adds crush events at the valley's wineries and the distinctive quality of a Chelan Valley evening — cool air off the lake, golden vineyard light, and the lingering warmth of a Columbia Basin Indian summer. Reserve ahead for summer holiday weekends when Lake Chelan's accommodation inventory tightens significantly across all property types.
