Driftwood Inn & RV Park

Campground in Homer, AK • 12 RV Sites

On the bluff above Bishop's Beach in downtown Homer, Alaska—one block from the Visitor Center and walkable to the coffee shops, bakeries, bookstores, and restaurants that give Homer its specific character as the most culturally vital small town on the Kenai Peninsula—the Driftwood Inn and RV Park combines downtown Homer's walkable commercial district with unobstructed Kachemak Bay views at a scale no other Homer campground can match. Fifteen sites positioned above the beach, complimentary showers, a fish cleaning station with freezer service, and the views of Kachemak Bay's glacier-carved mountains across the water make this campground the specific right answer for travelers who came to Homer for the fishing, the art scene, and the bay's incomparable mix of wildlife and mountain landscape. Fifteen RV and trailer sites split into two configurations: sites 3 through 11 are drive-in positions primarily for motorhomes but open to trailers, specifically arranged to maximize the Kachemak Bay view from every site; sites 12 through 18 are back-in positions for trailers or motorhomes. Complimentary showers are included with the site, and coin-operated laundry handles the practical needs of guests on extended Alaska highway trips. Fire pits and picnic tables at each site support the evening gathering culture that the bay view and the late summer Alaska light naturally encourage. A fish cleaning station and freezer service address the specific practical need that Homer's fishing economy makes more important here than at almost any other campground in the country—guests returning from halibut and salmon charters need a proper place to clean and store their catch, and the Driftwood provides it steps from the site. Water, sewer, and electric hookups complete the full-service infrastructure. Bishop's Beach directly below the bluff provides immediate beach access to one of Homer's most beautiful and accessible shoreline environments. The beach's intertidal zone—exposed at low tide to reveal the rich invertebrate communities of the Kachemak Bay ecosystem—provides amateur naturalists with an experience of tide pool biology unequaled on the Kenai Peninsula, and the beach's proximity to the Homer Spit gives walking guests access to the Spit's unique concentration of fishing docks, galleries, charter operations, and dining within easy reach. Kachemak Bay's natural character is what brings visitors to Homer and makes the Driftwood's bay-view positioning specifically valuable. The bay's combination of protected fjord water, rich upwelling productivity, and the surrounding spruce and alder forest creates the habitat that supports one of the highest concentrations of shorebirds, seabirds, and marine mammals in the Gulf of Alaska region. Homer is recognized as a globally significant birding destination, with the winter Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival celebrating the spring shorebird migration that moves hundreds of thousands of birds through the bay. Glacier tours and wildlife cruises departing from the Homer Spit provide structured access to the deeper bay and the Kenai Fjords landscape beyond. The Driftwood Inn and RV Park is open year-round, making it available for the winter birding season when Kachemak Bay's winter raptor concentrations—including bald eagles at some of the highest densities in North America—make Homer a genuine destination for off-season Alaska travel. Summer fishing charter season represents the peak demand period. Reserve well in advance for the summer window, and let the bay view from a bluff-top Homer site earn the reputation that keeps guests coming back.
