Red Rock RV Park

Campground in Island Park, ID • 152 RV Sites

At the base of Sawtelle Peak in Island Park, Idaho—in Fremont County 22 miles from Yellowstone National Park's West Entrance on the US-20 corridor where the Island Park caldera's volcanic plateau, the Henry's Fork of the Snake River, and the lodgepole pine forest create the most Yellowstone-adjacent landscape accessible outside the park's own boundaries—Red Rock RV Park by Open Road Resorts offers 155 full hookup sites with 20, 30, and 50-amp service, a small number of tent sites, ROAM Deluxe cabins sleeping six with queen beds, twin lofts, a sleeper sofa, and a full kitchen and bath, a boutique retail store, a pickleball court, a large playground, ping pong and foosball tables, a covered patio with a grilling station, a brand-new bathhouse, clean laundry facilities, a dog park, WiFi, and propane fill, in a resort whose 22-mile Yellowstone West Entrance position and Sawtelle Peak backdrop create the most practically located base camp for the Yellowstone-Henry's Fork corridor that Island Park's resort community offers. The park is 22 miles from Yellowstone. The caldera is everywhere. All 155 full hookup sites provide the 20, 30, and 50-amp electric service alongside water and sewer in the level pull-thru and back-in configurations that a 155-site Yellowstone-area resort maintains across the full RV size spectrum. ROAM Deluxe cabins—a queen master bedroom, twin beds in an elevated loft, a sleeper sofa, and a full kitchen and bath—provide the enclosed accommodation alternative for guests without a rig. The boutique retail store, pickleball court, playground, ping pong and foosball tables, and covered patio with grilling station create the on-property recreation that a multi-day Yellowstone base camp requires between park days. The brand-new bathhouse, clean laundry, dog park, WiFi, and propane fill complete the practical daily support. Island Park sits in Fremont County on the Island Park caldera—one of the largest ancient volcanic calderas in North America, 23 miles in diameter, whose collapse created the plateau that the Henry's Fork of the Snake River drains in the meadow-and-forest landscape that Yellowstone's geologic processes extend into the adjacent Idaho terrain. The Henry's Fork, one of the most celebrated dry-fly trout streams in the American West, flows through the Island Park caldera's meadow sections—the Box Canyon and Last Chance sections of the Henry's Fork provide the technical dry-fly fishing that the national fly-fishing community considers benchmark water for the sport. Yellowstone National Park's West Entrance, 22 miles north on US-20, provides access to the park's western geyser basins—the Lower, Midway, and Upper Geyser Basins including Old Faithful, the Grand Prismatic Spring's turquoise and orange thermal pool, and the Firehole River's thermal swimming area—along with the Madison Junction's wolf and bison watching and the Madison River's blue-ribbon trout fishery. Henry's Lake, 8 miles north of Island Park, provides the high-altitude fishing lake whose cutthroat, rainbow, and brook trout populations and the wetland bird habitat surrounding the lake create the immediate recreational alternative to the Yellowstone drive. Red Rock RV Park operates seasonally through the Island Park summer and early fall season, with the June through September window the primary open period and the Yellowstone peak from late June through Labor Day the most attended. The spring wildlife watching season in May, when the Yellowstone bison and pronghorn herds are calving and the migrating waterfowl are passing through the Henry's Fork corridor, provides the wildlife-photography opportunity that the off-peak visitor pursues before the summer crowds arrive. Reserve your full hookup site or ROAM cabin at Red Rock RV Park and let the 22-mile Yellowstone access, the Henry's Fork fishing, and the Island Park caldera's extraordinary landscape deliver the Yellowstone gateway stay that the park's most productive western corridor provides.
