Jellystone Park™ Chautauqua

Campground in Jamestown, NY • 72 RV Sites

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Chautauqua in Jamestown, New York, is a family vacation campground in Chautauqua County offering swimming pools, water slides, and the complete Jellystone Park family entertainment programming in one of the most culturally and intellectually significant summer resort communities in the United States. Jamestown's Chautauqua County position on I-86 in the southwestern New York lake plateau gives the campground the practical access to Chautauqua Lake's resort community, the Chautauqua Institution's nine-week summer programming, and the Lucille Ball comedy heritage that the Jamestown native's birthplace and the Lucille Ball Memorial Theater give the southern-tier New York city its specific cultural identity at the intersection of high-minded educational summer chautauqua programming and the American comedy tradition's most celebrated television personality. Swimming pools, water slides, and the Jellystone Park's character-based family entertainment give Chautauqua Jellystone the on-site resort experience that gives families with young children the water recreation and the activity programming independent of the Chautauqua Lake and the Chautauqua Institution's adult-oriented cultural programming — the Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo character interactions, the swimming pool complex, and the family event calendar give the campground the specific children's resort orientation that the Chautauqua Institution's lectures, concerts, and religious programming specifically complements for families whose camp visit overlaps with the Institution's summer season. Pets are welcome. The Chautauqua Institution, 10 miles north of Jamestown on Chautauqua Lake's western shore in Chautauqua County, is the most historically significant American institution of adult continuing education — a nine-week summer program established in 1874 by Methodist minister John Heyl Vincent and businessman Lewis Miller that pioneered the American summer educational institute model, sent traveling Chautauqua programs to 10,000 American communities in the early 20th century, and continues to host lectures, symphony performances, opera, theater, and interfaith programming on a Victorian-era assembly grounds that is a National Historic Landmark. Every US President from Grant through Obama has visited or spoken at the Chautauqua Institution. The National Comedy Center in Jamestown, opened in 2018 as the country's first institution dedicated to comedy preservation, is the most comprehensive museum of American humor in the United States — a 37-gallery interactive museum whose Lucille Ball birthplace connection (Ball was born in Jamestown in 1911), the Archive of Comedy's 50,000-item collection, and the George Burns and Gracie Allen Gallery give the institution the specific comedy heritage depth of a museum built on the intersection of Jamestown's Lucille Ball legacy and the broader American comedy tradition from vaudeville to streaming. Jellystone Park Chautauqua serves guests through Chautauqua County's southwestern New York camping season from late May through October, with the Chautauqua Institution's nine-week summer season from late June through late August sustaining the cultural tourism visitor market and the family swimming and water recreation season from July through August representing the peak campground demand. Lake Erie, 15 miles north of Jamestown at the Chautauqua County shoreline, gives the campground's guests the Great Lakes waterfront access at Barcelona Harbor and the Lake Erie Wine Country's Concord grape vineyards and estate wineries. Reserve sites well ahead for the Chautauqua Institution's summer season and the peak family camping period.
