Just Plane Adventures Lodging & Campground

Campground in Lahmansville, WV • 34 RV Sites

Just Plane Adventures Lodging & Campground in Lahmansville, West Virginia, offers something genuinely rare in the campground industry: a full-service outdoor retreat built around a grass airstrip, where guests can combine cabin and RV camping in the West Virginia mountains with flight training, aerial photography, and an aviation-centered community atmosphere hosted by a former airline pilot. The Pennington family has created a property that attracts both traditional campers drawn to the Potomac Highlands' natural character and aviation enthusiasts seeking a fly-in destination with genuine mountain credentials. Fully equipped cabins, RV sites with full hookups, and tent sites give guests a range of accommodation choices appropriate to both the fly-in aviation community and traditional ground-level campers arriving by road. The property's grass airstrip — operational for light aircraft — makes Just Plane Adventures one of a small number of campgrounds in the eastern United States where arriving by air is a genuine arrival option. Flight training and aerial photography services, offered through the property, give guests an active aviation experience beyond simply operating the strip, and the scenic mountain terrain of Grant County provides exceptional aerial photography subject matter that few eastern US locations can rival. The Potomac Highlands of West Virginia surrounding Lahmansville is some of the most dramatically beautiful and least-visited mountain terrain in the eastern United States. The Seneca Rocks quartzite formation — a vertical fin of rock rising nearly 900 feet from the valley floor — is one of the most striking geological features in the Appalachians and a nationally recognized technical climbing destination. Spruce Knob, the highest point in West Virginia at 4,863 feet, sits in the same highland region and is accessible by a paved road to a summit tower with panoramic views across the ridge-and-valley terrain in four directions. Dolly Sods Wilderness, one of the most unusual landscapes in the eastern United States — high-elevation heath barrens, wind-flagged spruce trees, and bog systems typically associated with Hudson Bay rather than West Virginia — provides exceptional hiking and backpacking within the Monongahela National Forest. Seneca Rocks itself offers some of the finest technical rock climbing in the eastern United States, and Spruce Knob-Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area encompasses a range of outdoor recreation that sustains multi-day visits for guests interested in climbing, hiking, fishing, and mountain scenery. Canaan Valley Resort State Park adds skiing, mountain biking, and birding to the broader regional activity calendar. Just Plane Adventures operates through the West Virginia mountain camping season, with the combination of aviation activities and mountain outdoor recreation creating a year-round draw for the property's dual audience. Summer and fall are the ideal seasons for the full combination of camping, flying, and Potomac Highlands hiking. Contact the Pennington family directly for current availability and flight training scheduling, as the aviation programming operates on a schedule that benefits from advance coordination for guests planning to combine multiple activities during their stay.

Additional requirements for Winter Campers November through AprilWater hook-up Reminders
- Winter campers in West Virginia will need to have a hot hose for their water hookup and heat tape for our frost-free water valve.
- We provide barrels to cover the frost-free water valve and that keeps the wind off the hookup to help prevent freezing in cold weather.
- Note: In the event of an electrical power outage for more than 1 hour in cold weather we will need someone to shut off all frost-free water valves to maintain the integrity of our water supply.
- Closing the frost-free water valve drains the water out of the line until electric power can be restored.
Payment Reminders
- Payments for winter campers are handled through VENMO an APP you can set up on your phone.
- Our payment address is @Mitch-Pennington-1
- Please pay the rent and deposits and electricity with separate transactions.
- Electric Payments-Upon arrival take a photo of your electric meter and text it to 304-703-5898 to verify your start reading, then each month text your meter reading when your monthly rent is due.
- Currently, the rate is .129 cents /KW, and we will calculate your electric bill based on that rate.
- Monthly Rate $600.00/month- customers must commit to 2 months' stay and cannot be reimbursed for a partial month.
- If you are going to be with us for less than 2 months the daily rates will apply with West Virginia sales tax and electric included.
