Pecan Acres RV Park

Campground in Leesville, LA • 58 RV Sites

Louisiana's Piney Woods occupy the state's west-central region with a quiet, shaded character that feels entirely different from the cypress swamps and bayou country that define Louisiana in the popular imagination. This is a landscape of tall longleaf and loblolly pines, red dirt roads, and the kind of deep rural quiet that makes the Piney Woods one of the state's most underappreciated regions for outdoor exploration. Pecan Acres RV Park in Leesville sits in the middle of all of it — a friendly, well-maintained park surrounded by the natural beauty of western Louisiana and positioned adjacent to the Kisatchie National Forest. The park offers 58 sites with full hookups for both 30- and 50-amp rigs, including pull-through configurations that can accommodate rigs up to 75 feet in length. Free cable TV, new handicap-accessible showers and bathrooms, complimentary Wi-Fi, propane exchange, and on-site laundry provide the complete amenity set that makes Pecan Acres more than just a place to plug in. A general store handles supply needs, and a dog park welcomes traveling pets. Security cameras monitor common areas around the clock, and the park's management maintains the clean, safe atmosphere that its reputation is built on. The Kisatchie National Forest, Louisiana's only national forest, begins essentially at the park's doorstep — nearly 600,000 acres of pine uplands, bayou corridors, and the Kisatchie Bayou itself, a federally designated Wild and Scenic River. The forest's Longleaf Vista area and Kisatchie Hills Wilderness offer hiking, mountain biking, and backpacking terrain that surprises visitors expecting flat Gulf Coast scenery. Fishing and hunting opportunities in the surrounding national forest land attract dedicated outdoors people from across the region throughout the year. Fort Johnson, the major Army installation just down the road, shapes the local community, and the park serves a significant population of military families and personnel. Toledo Bend Reservoir — one of the largest man-made lakes in the country, straddling the Louisiana-Texas border — is accessible for a day trip and offers exceptional bass fishing and recreational boating. Hodges Gardens State Park adds botanical beauty and woodland hiking to the regional outdoor picture. Pecan Acres RV Park is open year-round, and the Piney Woods climate delivers somewhat milder conditions than much of the Deep South — the forest canopy moderates summer heat, making extended outdoor time more comfortable than coastal Louisiana in July and August. Spring and fall are the most pleasant seasons for hiking and exploring the Kisatchie backcountry. Whether you're here for military business, national forest exploration, or simply passing through western Louisiana, Pecan Acres provides a comfortable, well-run base that exceeds what the modest surroundings might suggest. The Kisatchie National Forest's trail system and the quiet character of the Louisiana Piney Woods make this a surprisingly rewarding destination for outdoor enthusiasts who know to look past the more obvious tourist corridors.
