Lost Acres RV Park sits within a half mile of Indiana Beach Amusement Park in Monticello, Indiana, on the shores of Lake Shafer and Lake Freeman in White County's lake district. The park combines easy amusement park access with a classic Indiana lake community atmosphere, where wooded campsites under mature oak trees, a renovated swimming pool, and the rumble of roller coasters in the distance define a distinctly Midwestern summer camping experience. Every site at the lost acres rv park includes complete electric, water, and sewer hookups, and guests have access to park-wide WiFi, a well-stocked camp store, coin laundry, and a community clubhouse throughout their stay. The newly renovated swimming pool provides a resort-quality alternative to the lake, while multiple playgrounds keep younger campers entertained between trips to the amusement park. A fishing pond on the property, small walking trails, a dedicated dog park, and a calendar of organized activities—including kids' events and cornhole tournaments—fill out the on-site experience without requiring anyone to leave the campground. The Monticello lake area has been a recreational destination for Indiana families for generations, and the dual-lake geography of Shafer and Freeman gives the region an abundance of boating, fishing, and waterfront activity that distinguishes it from a standard inland campground setting. Lost Acres' wooded sites sit shaded by the oaks that give the park its natural character, providing a quieter counterpoint to the activity just down the road at Indiana Beach. Indiana Beach Amusement Resort, within easy walking distance, offers roller coasters, water park attractions, midway games, and live entertainment on the lake—an unusual combination that makes Monticello a genuine summer vacation destination rather than just a camping stopover. Lake Shafer and Lake Freeman support boating, water skiing, and fishing throughout the season, with boat launches and rentals available at multiple access points around both lakes. The historic downtown of Monticello and the surrounding White County countryside provide a quieter afternoon alternative when the amusement park crowds become part of the scenery rather than the goal. Lost Acres RV Park operates through the Indiana warm-weather camping season, with peak demand tracking the Indiana Beach schedule from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Sites book up quickly for summer weekends when the amusement park draws regional visitors, so reservations are essential for July and August. Families looking for a camping destination that packages lakefront recreation, wooded sites, a full-service campground, and an amusement park within walking distance will find that Monticello delivers a combination that's genuinely hard to replicate elsewhere in the Midwest.
