Forty miles north of Columbus on 76 wooded acres, Jellystone Park Columbus North delivers the beloved Yogi Bear camping experience with enough on-site attractions to fill a week without ever leaving the grounds. Located in Mount Gilead, Ohio, the resort pitches itself squarely at families looking for a campground that goes well beyond sites and hookups to offer an activity-packed environment where kids—and the adults who love them—stay endlessly entertained. From Yogi Bear and Boo Boo character visits to a lake with a floating obstacle course, the resort generates an energy that's difficult to replicate elsewhere. The activity lineup at Jellystone Columbus North is genuinely impressive. Swimming options span a pool, a lake with a water slide, and a floating obstacle course that challenges older kids through the afternoon. A jumping pillow bounces campers of all ages, while Gaga ball, gem mining, horseshoes, and corn hole spread the entertainment across the property. Lakeside cabanas equipped with mini fridges, ceiling fans, and upgraded furniture add a premium option for families wanting a comfortable home base with shade. Modern bathhouses are free for guests, golf cart rentals let families cruise the grounds in style, boat docks and boating access serve guests with their own watercraft, and community firepits create natural gathering spots for marshmallow roasting and evening socializing. A bar and snack bar keep guests fueled throughout the day. The wooded 76-acre setting gives the park genuine natural texture beneath all the organized activity. Mature trees shade much of the property, and the lake—fed by natural drainage and ringed by vegetation—attracts wildlife that moves through the campground in the early morning hours before the day gets going. The gentle Ohio farmland surrounding Mount Gilead is quietly beautiful in the way the Midwest's underrated countryside often is, and Gilead State Park sits immediately to the east of the village, offering hiking trails and natural recreation as a quieter counterpoint to the resort's packed schedule. Columbus is close enough for a half-day excursion when the city calls. The Short North Arts District, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium—consistently ranked among the best in the country—the German Village neighborhood with its charming brick streets and independent restaurants, and Ohio State's sprawling campus all make compelling day-trip destinations. The broader Knox and Morrow County area surrounding Mount Gilead is part of Ohio's agricultural heartland, with farm stands, covered bridges, and a relaxed small-town atmosphere that provides genuine contrast to the resort's high-energy programming. Jellystone Park Columbus North operates seasonally and runs its highest energy during summer, when all the water attractions, character visits, and organized events are in full swing. Weekends book quickly and themed event campouts—holiday celebrations, character weekends, and specialty programming—fill to capacity well in advance. Families planning a summer stay are well served by booking early and checking the event calendar when choosing specific dates. If you're looking for a campground in central Ohio that keeps kids asking to come back year after year, Jellystone Columbus North has the formula dialed in. Reserve your site and let Yogi Bear do the rest.
