Owl Creek Market & RV Park

Campground in Odessa, MO • 77 RV Sites

At the Odessa exit of Interstate 70 in Lafayette County, Missouri, 35 minutes east of Kansas City, Owl Creek Market and RV Park has built a reputation that exceeds its highway campground description—a full-service RV park anchored by a specialty market stocking more than 100 varieties of artisan cheese, selected meats, wine, Dutch-style foods and spices, jarred goods, and chocolates, giving the campground store one of the most genuinely surprising retail destinations in any Missouri campground. The park's easy I-70 access and consistent amenity quality have made it a returning-guest destination rather than a simple overnight stop on the Kansas City-Columbia corridor, with a loyal visitor base that finds the combination of clean facilities, pool, and the extraordinary market a reason to book again rather than simply move on in the morning. All sites offer full hookups with electric, water, and sewer connections on pull-through and back-in configurations, and the swimming pool provides warm-weather recreation for guests who arrive with children or simply want to cool off after a long driving day. A fenced dog run accommodates traveling pets, a playground serves younger guests, and the renovated bathhouse and laundry facility—open 24 hours a day, seven days a week—handles the practical needs of guests arriving at any hour on the interstate corridor. The laundry building houses pool and foosball tables for indoor social activity on rainy days, and cornhole and horseshoe courts outside add casual outdoor competition to the evening hours at camp. The Owl Creek Market is the campground's true differentiator—a shop that leans heavily into artisan dairy, Dutch-influenced specialty foods, and European-style preserved goods that stand in complete contrast to the typical campground store of snacks and firewood. Over 100 cheese varieties, selected charcuterie-style meats, curated wine selections, old-fashioned jarred goods, chocolates, and Dutch-style spice blends create a provisions stop that serves as a destination for cheese enthusiasts from the Kansas City metro who discover that the best specialty food shop within 50 miles is attached to an RV park in Odessa. The market's curated character makes provisioning for the camping pantry genuinely enjoyable rather than a necessity. Kansas City, 35 minutes west on I-70, provides the full metropolitan experience—the legendary KC barbecue scene anchored by institutions like Arthur Bryant's, Joe's, and Gates; the Power and Light entertainment district; the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art; and the sporting world of the Chiefs at Arrowhead and the Royals at Kauffman Stadium. The Harry S. Truman National Historic Site in Independence, just east of Kansas City, preserves the 33rd president's home alongside the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum—a presidential heritage site of considerable historical significance in the Missouri-Kansas region. Lake of the Ozarks, about 80 miles southeast, adds a recreational lake destination for guests who want a day trip to one of Missouri's most energetic resort waterways. The I-70 corridor dynamic gives Owl Creek a guest mix ranging from one-night cross-country travelers to weekend Kansas City metro visitors who make the Odessa exit a regular outdoor calendar stop. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable Missouri weather for outdoor activity, while summer pool season keeps the campground active and the market busy with visitors combining a Kansas City day trip with a relaxed evening at camp. Reservations are advisable for summer holiday weekends, when KC metro camping demand spreads outward along the I-70 corridor and quality campgrounds like Owl Creek fill well before arrival day.
