Oxford RV Park

Campground in Oxford, AL • 26 RV Sites

Oxford RV Park in Oxford, Alabama, is a well-equipped full-hookup campground in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Calhoun County — a roomy, practical property with quick I-20 interstate access and proximity to town dining and services, positioned at the gateway to Talladega National Forest and within range of Cheaha State Park, Talladega Superspeedway, and the Anniston-Oxford cultural corridor that gives this section of northeast Alabama a more varied day-trip portfolio than most I-20 travelers realize. The Oxford-Anniston area's position at the foot of the Appalachian foothills in Calhoun County gives guests the combination of immediate highway access and the adjacent Talladega Forest's recreation resources that campgrounds deeper in the national forest cannot provide without sacrificing convenience. Roomy sites with full hookups and the quick access to Oxford's commercial services and I-20 give the campground the practical infrastructure that both through-travelers on the Atlanta-Birmingham corridor and destination visitors arriving for Talladega events specifically require. The campground's proximity to the town's dining and service options keeps daily practical needs within a short drive, and the Talladega National Forest's eastern district begins immediately outside town, giving guests the national forest access that the surrounding Appalachian foothills terrain delivers without the deep forest drive. Pets are welcome. Cheaha State Park, 30 miles south of Oxford in the Talladega National Forest, encompasses the highest point in Alabama — Cheaha Mountain at 2,407 feet — with a summit viewshed across the Appalachian foothills of east-central Alabama and the Dugger Mountain Wilderness below. The park's lodge, cabins, and campground sit atop the Talladega Mountain range in a setting that the surrounding forest and the summit's exposed Hillabee greenstone geology make genuinely distinctive in a state where the upland terrain is typically more subtle than the dramatic Alabama Mountain backdrop at Cheaha provides. Talladega Superspeedway, 20 miles south of Oxford, is NASCAR's longest oval track — the 2.66-mile tri-oval that produces the highest speeds of any race on the Cup Series schedule, where the drafting dynamics of superspeedway racing regularly produce the multi-car wrecks and last-lap surprise finishes that make Talladega the most dramatic venue on the circuit for fans who understand the racing's specific physics. The fall and spring Talladega weekends draw the largest camping crowds to the Oxford-Anniston corridor, and the campground's highway access makes it one of the most practical overnight bases for Talladega event visitors who want infrastructure beyond the track's own camping areas. Oxford RV Park serves guests year-round in northeast Alabama's mild Appalachian foothills climate, where spring and fall represent the most comfortable seasons for Talladega National Forest hiking and Cheaha summit visits, and the Talladega NASCAR events in April and October represent the campground's most intensely booked weekends. The Anniston Museum of Natural History, a Smithsonian Institution affiliate with one of the most comprehensive natural history collections in the Southeast, provides an indoor cultural option in the Anniston-Oxford area that complements the outdoor recreation programming available in the surrounding national forest. Reserve sites well ahead for Talladega race weekends, when the entire Calhoun County accommodation inventory fills from the regional and national motorsports visitor market.
