Belmont Loop RV Park

Campground in Woodland, WA • 67 RV Sites

Belmont Loop RV Park is RV Inn Style Resorts' newest property, which opened in Fall 2023 in Woodland, Washington—67 oversized concrete sites on a well-maintained park off I-5 in Cowlitz County, 25 minutes north of Portland, Oregon. The park's position in the I-5 corridor between Portland and Mount St. Helens gives it dual utility as both a Portland metro base camp and a staging point for the Mount St. Helens day trip that is one of the signature experiences on the southern Washington Pacific Northwest itinerary, with the bonus of quick access to the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, one of the most ecologically significant wetland refuges in the Pacific Northwest. Sixty-seven concrete pad sites accommodate the full range of RV sizes in a big-rig-friendly layout, with full hookups providing 30 and 50-amp electric, water, and sewer at each site. A dog park, pet-friendly policies, hot tub, pool, laundry facilities, clean restrooms, and mail service provide the amenity set for both overnight stops and extended stays. The park's design as a modern RV resort rather than a legacy highway campground shows in the oversized pad dimensions and the concrete infrastructure, which eliminates the mud and rutting issues that older properties in the wet Pacific Northwest climate develop over decades of use. Woodland sits in the Lewis River corridor where the I-5 freeway crosses from Oregon into Washington and continues north through the Cowlitz County landscape that transitions from the Columbia River bottomland to the foothills of the Cascade Range. The Cowlitz River's confluence with the Columbia is a few miles south, and the Lewis River corridor east of Woodland provides the access route to the lower Mount St. Helens monitoring area and the Toutle River drainage where the 1980 eruption's lahar debris flow is still visible in the river channel geometry. The combination of river corridors, wetland refuges, and active volcanic landscape makes the Woodland area more geologically and ecologically interesting than its I-5 bypass character would suggest. Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, a few minutes from the campground, encompasses 5,200 acres of Columbia River floodplain and Cowlitz River wetland habitats that provide critical stopover and wintering habitat for Pacific Flyway waterfowl—Ridgefield's winter population of dusky Canada geese, Tundra swans, sandhill cranes, and the concentration of raptors that feed on the refuge's small mammal population make it one of the most significant wildlife watching sites in the Columbia River system. The refuge's proximity to the Portland metro area gives it a regular birdwatching audience, and the auto tour route allows vehicle-based wildlife observation that is particularly effective in the winter months when waterfowl numbers peak. Ilani Casino in Ridgefield, operated by the Cowlitz Indian Tribe, provides entertainment within minutes of the campground. Belmont Loop RV Park operates year-round in the Pacific Northwest marine climate where the Columbia River corridor's relatively mild winters and the long daylight of Pacific Northwest summers make camping genuinely viable across the full calendar. Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument is 40 minutes northeast via SR-503, and Portland's full urban amenity set—including Portland International Airport—is 25 minutes south for guests arriving by air or connecting to multi-modal itineraries. The park's new infrastructure, oversized pads, and I-5 position make it one of the more logistically efficient overnight and base camp options in the southern Washington corridor.
