Outdoorsy offers an industry-first “person to person” $1M insurance policy that covers recreational vehicles and tow vehicles for all qualified domestic and international travelers.
Our insurance program provides $1M in liability coverage for the duration of the RV/motorhome rental period for all verified renters in a certified vehicle. Coverage takes effect when rentals are processed on Outdoorsy.com. Our insurance coverage does not include rentals that occur outside of the Outdoorsy platform (i.e. on another platform or by cash) or while the vehicle is being used for personal use by the owner.
The program includes $250,000 Comprehensive & Collision up to $250,000, with a deductible of just $1,500 per rental period. Outdoorsy is responsible for collecting that $1,500 from the renter in case of incident. There are no premiums.
Covered vehicles include: RVs, camper vans, stationary and vintage trailers, non-mobile “destination campers”, travel trailers, fifth wheels, park models and towing vehicles.
We can cover vehicles entering into Canada, but not Mexico.
What motorized vehicles are included?
Class A, C, B, vans and tow vehicles.
Motorized vehicle(s) must be year 2000 or newer.
Tow vehicles must be year 2000 or newer with no more than 150,000 miles on the odometer.
What travel trailer vehicles are included?
Travel trailers, fifth wheels, park models and trailers have no year restrictions.
What vintage vehicles are included?
Older Westfalias and VW Vans and trailers newer than the year 2000 are covered under our Vintage Plan for both Liability and Comprehensive & Collision. There is no restriction on age for trailers as long as the pass their regularly scheduled mechanical safety inspections.
If the rental includes a tow vehicle, it must be year 2000 or newer and have no more than 150,000 miles. The vehicle must be registered and in safe condition.
Does the insurance cover motorized vehicles newer than the year 2000?
For liability insurance, no; for comprehensive and collision insurance, yes. We cover the value of these vehicles, with a maximum coverage of $75,000. For example, if a vehicle is worth $70,000 and is damaged in an accident, Outdoorsy insurance will pay $70,000. If a vehicle is customized with special additions that result in its total value exceeding $75,000, Outdoorsy insurance will only cover up to $75,000.
All vehicles must be certified through Outdoorsy. Owners should complete the form located under the Insurance tab while editing their listing, or apply during the Publishing Your Listing Process.
