Ponil Campground

Camp in an RV near Cimarron, and you'll get the feeling that the West is still wild here. Experience this "out in the country" atmosphere at Ponil Campgrounds located on the slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and you'll be surrounded by mature trees, a creek on the campground's borders, and the occasional deer and wild turkey wandering by. Pets can coexist with the campground's resident wildlife as long as they are leashed at all times.

Even though civilization seems so far away, your motorhome camping experience here will be closer to comfortable as full hookup and water/electric sites with 50/30 amp service, along with a sewer dump, are available for Cimarron campers. Internet access and satellite TV are even on offer, so you can choose to stay in the loop while out in the wild (West).

Fire pits and picnic tables make outdoor meals easier to prepare and enjoy. With bathhouses and laundry facilities, you may even be tempted to stay longer than originally planned. In fact, some guests stay for months at a time, planning events for other campers like pot lucks, morning "Cowboy Coffee," and horseshoe competitions. For special gatherings, a large screened pavilion is available for rent.
