Starbuck / Lyons Ferry Marina KOA

If history is your thing, you should consider parking your RV rental at Starbuck / Lyons Ferry Marina KOA in Washington State. The surrounding area was explored by Lewis and Clark in 1805, but it was home to Native American tribes for thousands of years before that. The area is accentuated by towering cliffs and the Snake River which winds through the valley below them. The RV campground is located at the Lyons Ferry crossing, another historically significant landmark, and includes a marina and restaurant. Your pets will be happy to see the dog park when you arrive after a long trip, and you can use the restroom and shower facilities to freshen up.

As you are getting set up, you'll be happy to know that the camp store has everything you need to restock your motorhome rental, including propane and firewood in case you want to celebrate your first evening here with a campfire. The sites have up to 50 amp electrical service, and if you'd rather let someone else do the cooking, the Snake River Grill has daily specials and specialty coffees.

When it's time to venture forth, start by heading out to do some fishing on the river which has bass, salmon, walleye, and other species on hand for you to catch. You can view the nearby Joso Bridge from the river or from your rental RV as you pass over it, heading towards Palouse Falls. This magnificent waterfall is around 200 feet high and makes quite a splash when the water finally lands. There is a day-use area on the river that was designed by the Corps of Engineers where you can hike or enjoy a nice picnic. You can also rent a kayak and do some paddling on the river which is quite calm and provides a relaxing outing (no adrenaline-pumping rapids here).
