AVOID! Giving my honest review reflecting what I wish I had known before renting from this owner. We rented this trailer and it was relatively painless, a little bit too lax if anything, as there was was no walk through inspection report or documentation of pre-existing condition. He hooked up the trailer for us which was nice, but to be expected. The trailer was clean, but the cabinets were all crammed with food and misc. items from himself or previous renters. The trailer worked out great for our needs but the generator offered was too large and loud so we rented another separately. When trying to return it, we were trying to dump the grey and black water and he was not helpful in finding where the dump hose was stored. We had to flag down a stranger to help us after unanswered calls and texts. In retrospect, he probably wanted to collect a sewage clean fee. When we returned the trailer, he could not have been more gracious and cool, saying “yep, all looks good!”. Then the next day, I got a notification from Outdoorsy that he was holding our whole $500 security deposit. The reason stated was “extensive damage” and he listed he wanted replacement of 4 things we were In no way responsible for. Example, a random water hose that was in storage needed to be replaced. We never used or and only saw the water hose looking for the dump hose, and he claimed it was “trashed” and we had to replace it. Another example, the light cover to a taillight was missing when we rented it. He claimed we had to replace that too! My only guess is that he wanted a lot of little repairs for his trailer and intended to claim our security deposit to pay for them, regardless of any proof. Expensive lesson learned, follow protocol exactly to protect yourself! Really wish Outdoorsy would have done more to protect its’ customers against this type of behavior.
