We had rented another RV for our trip that we had rented before. At the last minute (as in the day we were supposed to pick it up) the owner called us and said it had a mechanical error and couldn't go out. We had rented from them before so we appreciated their honesty and they connected us back with Outdoorsy to find a replacement for our trip. Again we only had about 8 hours to get this accomplished. After about 1 1/2 hours Outdoorsy was able to get us into this 2005 Winnebago Vectra. It looked awesome online and even though we had to drive 2 hours to pick it up we felt it was worth the drive because it had such a great listing and reviews. My husband and sons went and picked it up as I had to work. The first thing my husband notices is the outside stairs are missing. The owner gave them two cinder blocks to use instead (not at all safe) and said the stairs had been ripped off at a gas station. Ok... not so bad... we had a little two step plastic step ladder that we could use at home. The listing clearly shows two TV's inside and one outside. There was only one TV inside and it wasn't hooked up. When we tried to hook it up during our trip we discovered all of the cables for it were too short and wouldn't reach it. There is also no outside TV. The listing also has a thing about not smoking in it or you will get a $500 fine. Well, I had to message the owner after the RV got home because it definitely smelled like cigarette smoke and I didn't want to get charged $500 for something our non smoking family did not do or cause. I also had to message him about the outside damage to protect ourselves. Now... it's June in VA and temperatures got up to 95 degrees during our trip. There is NO front AC!! Which means the driver was hot the entire time. When I called the owner to ask if we were overlooking something like a switch or something he informed me that it would be cool enough that night that we could open the vents and let outdoor air in. My husband was sucking down Gatorade as he drove to keep cool and awake because it was so warm in the front. The first gas station we stopped at my husband noticed oil on the back of the RV where the engine is. It had blown off the oil cap and oil was spraying out. He replaced it. Next stop, the same thing. He took a closer look and noticed the oil cap was missing one of the tabs. We called around trying to find a parts store that would have a cap for it. No such luck. Hubby ended up pulling a Macgyver and putting duck tape on it to keep it on.
