There were unexpected issues with this rental experience which, being a first for us, made us question whether we will repeat the experience. Our interactions with the renter were excellent. There was good communication; questions were answered and responded to in a timely manner; extra supplies and equipment were also offered. The trailer however was not, in our view, properly prepared for our use, perhaps because it was the first time it was being rented to someone. It had not been de-winterized and as we were camping in a state park, with only electrical service and no water hook-up we wasted valuable water rinsing out the lines. They could not be flushed as thoroughly as they should have been and it was not until close to the end of our trip when the odour of RV antifreeze finally dissipated. As we were camping in the first part of May, we woke up to cold temperatures in the trailer the first morning and discovered that there was no propane in the tanks with which to heat or cook. The renter stated when we picked up the trailer that he thought one tank was totally full while the other had some propane left in it, but this was not the case. Squeaking noises emanating from under the stove required investigation and the removal of a panel in the storage area. The source was a nest containing 6 baby squirrels who were 2-3 weeks of age and who had to be removed. The trailer was poorly designed in parts, had quality control issues, & was not properly maintained. For instance, there was no capacity to refill the water tank in the usual way of pouring water from a portable jug (when there isn't a full water hookup); after some experimentation, we were able to draw water from a water jug directly by sucking it up with the pump (similar to winterizing fluid, though remaining winterizing fluid in line also contaminated water jug then). We had brought our own water jugs for refilling or we would have had to make a trip to purchase one. Other concerns pertained to the fact that the awning was detaching from the trailer at one end, making us reluctant to use it in the event that further deterioration might occur; and the refrigerator began to make a loud humming noise at random intervals. We did appreciate the fact that the renter left various supplies in the trailer but found insufficient empty space had been left for us to put our own items.
We have indicated that we would recommend this RV for future rentals, provided that it is better maintained and prepared for the renter's use.
