the first thing you need to know is that this unit (2017 coachman leprechaun) is not owned by Ryver. She is an agent of the owner. Neither of whom appear to have been "RVer's".
Ryver has little authority to make decisions and must discuss everything with the "owner" Also she does not know much about the vehicles and how they work.
Ryver is a nice person, however not someone I will do business with again.
BE WARNED - the generator hour meter does NOT read the generator run time - it reads the time the panel has 120 volt power! (like when your plugged into shore power/full hook-up) read on to find out how I know.the RV is in good condition, and served us well, except for the black water tank issue, that made the toilet unusable, broken roof vent, and a misrepresentation of the generator hour meter.I used the "instant booking" feature on Outdoorsy, and immediately reached out to Ryver to set up a "viewing" of the RV. I never book without seeing the vehicle first ( a lesson learned from previous rentals).
over the next two weeks we arranged two meetings at neutral locations, I showed up both times, she did not show up either time and left me without explanation other than sorry I couldn't get the keys or she was really busy.
If I had not been within the cancellation policy and lost over $2000 in booking fees I would have cancelled. I called my credit card company and Outdoorsy to get my options at this point. I was afraid the unit didn't exist or I was being caught in some sort of bait and switch scam.
Pick-up day came and the unit was as described, in good condition inside and out. I was pleased that what had lead up to this apparently was just unfortunate miscommunication and issues.
day two on our trip, I notice a crack in the skylight/vent in the main cabin, it was raining and there was a drip. No big deal.....
day three - I go to dump the black water tank....the cap is full of waste, so it spills out when I connect the provided hose. there is something jamming the black water valve from closing, a plastic tube with a coil spring inside it. looked like a plumbers snake at first.
So now I can't use the toilet on a 11 day 1800 mile trip with myself and four women from 24 - 70 years old. Not a Happy Camper!
I'm in Big Bend by day 4 with no cell reception and trying to get a hold of Ryver to get someone out to fix the issue. She does reply , but cannot get a hold of anyone to repair the problem....
Day 5, I get a message from a repair company, they cannot make it out due to a medical emergency, day 6 the repair place leaves me a message that they will be in Terlingua and will check their messages throughout the day. I leave multiple messages, and do not go to Big Bend Park as planned , but go to Terlinqua for the day in hopes that the repairs can be made to make the toilet usable. this doesn't happen. so late in the day we make a run through the park and back to the RV park for the night.
the next day - a 3 hour ride to Marathon for Thanksgiving dinner at the Gage hotel, then a 4.5 hour ride to Del Rio to see lake Amistad, with no use of the toilet!
On the final day of our trip, I flush out the black tank, and out pops the "hose" thing. by this point since I was staying at full hook up sites I had determined that the Gauge lights for the black tank had to be wrong. I would hook up every night and dump the tank. Stuff would come out but the tank would never read empty. Not knowing the tank was empty and not trusting the gauge, meant I had to choose not to use he toilet for fear of overflowing. Not to mention that the valve wouldn't close so every time I had to hook up the dump hose, it was disgusting!
remember that crack in the roof vent/skylight...… the plastic was so brittle from siting in the sunlight, it rattled itself into pieces, I woke up about 4 in the morning wondering why I was freezing, I looked up ( I was sleeping on the jackknife couch) and there was NO plastic in the roof vent. It was windy that night and had apparently blown off. I found it on the ground next to the RV a couple hours later. went to pick it up and the plastic crumbled.
this was the last day before heading home to wrap up the trip clean and return the RV.
I woke up and took the RV to an RV repair/service business ad got a quote for the roof vent, and had them do an exterior wash of the RV before filling it up and returning it.
When returning the unit, Ryver was there, at a different location than any of the previous location we had set up to meet at, although they were all with in a mile of each other.
I had exceeded the mileage allotment so as per the contract I agreed to pay the extra $561 dollars for mileage.
then we checked the generator "Hours" meter.... when I had picked up the unit it was reading 9643, upon delivery it was reading 9749 hours. now I have said already that I was staying at full hook up sites every night. so I had electricity every evening through morning, and I was not using the generator when we were traveling - no need to. so with the $3.50 per hour charge over the 3 hours per day allotment, I was looking at an additional $371 in charges. If I had used the generator for that time I would have had no problem paying, but the problem is I didn't! I used the generator 3-4 hours for the whole trip. That was part of my consideration for paying for the full hook-up RV sites.
So the only thing that made sense was that he units Hour meter is not tied to the generator, but is tied to the electrical panel measuring whenever the panel has 110-120 volts. So all the time I was plugged in to the RV site, the panel hour meter was reading as if the generator was running. I went back and did a rough calculation of the number of hours I was "Hooked-up" and I was within 5 hours of the meter reading, confirming my suspicion.
Oh by the way, I'm an engineer, I don't like unkowns.
Ryver, agreed to waive the fee for the generator, after discussing this with the "owner" who I never talked to even though I was right there.....
Since I was in charge of the vehicle when the roof vent broke I agreed to pay for parts but not labor for the repair - I had it quoted at the RV repair and service business I had gone to that morning.
Oh I almost forgot being pulled over by a trooper in Marfa TX due to a driver's side vehicle height light (amber colored lights up high on front of RV) being out, and not having a front license plate. the trooper said the license plate looked suspicious, so they ran it ad everything checked out OK, so I just got a written warning for the lights and license plate.
