About TheVintage RVRental

We love vintage Toyota, Chinook, Sunrader and other Vintage RVs. We are trying to save and restore a culture of campers. Our RVs are reliable and well maintained. Ed had done a "wheel to wheel" upgrade on all our vehicles. Each camper is totally different and we attempt to keep the original owners idea in mind. We have four current rentals: Troutmobile, The Nook, Time Traveler and The Gazelle. Also working on Mighty Oak which will be a 4x4 conversion with a 2.4L turbo diesel engine and Patina Cruiser 4x4 build equipped with over-landing gear. Visit our website or instagram for more pictures and adventures.

TheVintage knows their vehicles and the area surrounding their home of Western MT very well and they want you to get the absolute most out of both for your trip. They run you through the important quirks and how-tos of the vehicle upon pickup so there is no worry or confusion when you're driving or setting up camp somewhere with no service; and if you do need them, their response time is fantastic. We told them our plans and mapped a rough route and they provided us with a bunch of excellent suggestions for routes and stops that we hadn't heard of or would have thought of - we'd never heard of the Sawtooths before, but they were spectacular and one of the many worthwhile additions to our trip we made at their suggestion.

We loved our trip in the Chinook! The pop top was really good for being able to stand inside and gave plenty of headroom above the bed. There’s ample storage for a week-long trip. We toured through the Yellowstone area for five days/four nights comfortably! The 70’s camper really gives you a neat feel, as if visiting the park decades ago. This camper is great for an adventurous couple, more minimalist than a fancy Sprinter, etc. but a really fun vehicle! The owners were super responsive and can help troubleshoot if anything comes up.

Clean, perfectly vintage. Made it over Mt Hood in very hot weather with no problems at all. The owner was very responsive!

We had a blast roaming southwest Montana, fishing and camping in this classic RV. The trout mobile did not let us down.

There may be newer RVs out there but none better than the Chinook. This rad vehicle was the talk of our trip to Montana as dozens of folks stopped us along the way! Cozy, and cool it was both our home and our wheels for our honeymoon week! Amazing owners were responsive and receptive the whole journey!

If you’re looking for a true retro driving/camping adventure then this is it. We received countless waves, positive comments and even purchase offers from random observers. The Nook was well stocked with the essentials - much of it being in new condition. The owners were quick to respond when we had inquiries and the living quarters were cozy and comfortable. We spent a great week with the Nook traveling daily but never further than a couple hours from Bozeman. So much outdoors stuff in the area. We were anglers on the Madison, whitewater rafters on the Gallatin, mountain bikers in Big Sky, spelunkers at Lewis & Clark, rodeo spectators in Livingston on Independence Day, Art walk evening on Main St. Bozeman, and hiked many miles of vertical mountain trails. The Nook got us there. One comment for you city folk…the Nook is an old stick shift, without power steering or A/C. It took a little getting used to driving. As I said, it is an adventure, but we’ll worth it and adds another dimension to the trip. Hope you enjoy the ride too.
