Mendy and I are relatively new to RV'ing, but we fell instantly in love with it. We rented multiple Class A and Class C RV's, for a few trips of different lengths before deciding to purchase our FR3. It is almost brand new at time of this listing, but it will always be meticulously maintained and stored under roof.
After multiple trips in rentals, we made our priority list:
(1) Contemporary, bright decor. We were turned off by the fact that 95% of the class A's out there have dark finishes that feel like they're 20 years behind.
(2) Comfortable sleeping for two couples with kids: The FR3 32DS has a full king bed in the back, and a comfortable queen that drops down over the driver/passenger seats. Additionally, it has bunks for two kiddos, and two other beds (dinette and couch) that are comfortable sleeping quarters for anyone under about 5' 4".
(3) A shower we can actually use: While we've found we don't really shower in the RV much, when we need to, this one has the largest shower we found in any RV we considered.
(4) Large Refrigerator: Our family has vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters. We need to have storage for lots of food on long trips, and the double refrigerator in our FR3 fits the bill perfectly.
(5) Storage - LOTS of it: We like to take long road trips of 10-15 days, and we love to travel to colder areas. We need room for lots o clothing for different climates, and I'm a landscape photographer, so I travel with a ridiculous amount of gear. This RV has incredible storage both inside and outside the RV. We also use the bunk for storage if we're not traveling with more than 4-6 of us.
STANDOUT FEATURES not visible in photos:
-Easy to drive! Don't be intimidated by a Class A! We were when we first rented one, and we found it easier and more fun to drive than any Class C we previously rented. We'll take you driving and help you until you're comfortable if that's a concern.
-Self-Leveling System
-(4) TV's - 3 inside and 1 outside
What's included
We have the RV very well stocked with all kinds of things you don't even know you need until it's too late! The basements are well organized with tools, compressor, lawn chairs, cleaning supplies, cooking supplies, etc. We have a Keurig in the rig you're welcome to use, and ample silverware and cooking supplies.
Due to Covid, we've chosen to encourage renters to bring their own linens & towels. We can provide them if that's a big deal, but we feel it's safer for folks to bring their own until this pandemic is behind us.
Recommendations
We boldly took our very first RV trip, in a rented RV, all the way to Montana from Texas over a 12 day trip. We wanted to really experience the lifestyle in a thorough manner. If you ain't scared and want to really go for it, the route we took through Utah, up to Yellowstone, and back down through Colorado is an amazing trip. A similar long journey up the California coast and into Yosemite is another incredible 10-15 day trip. If you want something shorter to try the RV world out, consider Palo Duro Canyon in Amarillo, or DeGray Lake in Arkansas. For something in between, consider Sand Dunes National Park in southern Colorado (about 11 hour drive from Dallas) or Eureka Springs Arkansas (6-7 hour drive from Dallas). We can recommend specific RV parks on any of these routes, as well as some great spots to hit that are less-travelled than the typical hot spots everyone goes.
Other things to note
PETS: We cannot allow cats, due to allergies. We prefer no pets, and may change this in time. For now though, we will allow ONE SMALL dog. Please discuss with us if you intend to bring a furry friend.
On nearly anything else, we are super flexible and we want to be as helpful as possible! We've fallen in love with the RV life, and have travelled a ton in 2020. Feel free to ask us questions or discuss anything on your mind, whether you rent from us or not. We're happy to help others find the joy in this that we have! And in our experience, having success on your first trip or two will impact that way you see traveling by RV forever. We're here to help make those experiences amazing.
