The vehicle is not easy to drive. The suspension is very rough. Halfway through our trip, the wheel bearing went out. Owner didn't want to pay to get it towed nor had a replacement vehicle. We ended up renting a different car from someone else to finish the trip. Owner said he was going to refund the days we didn't get to use the rental. He hasn't responded to me at all since, and I haven't see the refund.

This was the perfect vehicle for exploring Alaska. Easy to drive. Handles the secondary roads with ease. Camper is very easy to set up and surprisingly spacious and comfortable.

Dealt with Tim in emails before picking up truck however he was not around when picking up or dropping off. A lady named Cathy was there, she was nice enough but her answer to some of my questions was you have to ask Tim or Outdoorsy. The truck has 354,000 miles so shows some wear, which is expected with a vehicle of that many miles. The problem is not repairing or maintaining it. Examples.. The door to the camper has a plastic slide that was broken. I cut my finger on the sharp edge (the first day) when I was trying to open, 9 days later it is still not completely healed. The stove & cooking pans etc. (don't think they were taken out and cleaned between customers) were not clean to the point I didn't want to use. At that point I didn't trust the bedding so we bought sleeping bags, ate out and sandwiches. A/C didn't work (not a huge problem but there were a couple days it would have been nice) and I couldn't get the cruise control to work (I have had numerous vehicles with similar controls but it could have been me). On the good side it did get us from point A to B, the solar worked great, plenty of space for 2 people, it was ready when we picked it up and Cathy was nice. Just so you know: I am 70 years old, have been camping since I was a kid, have owned numerous RVs and am not a clean freak but I do feel a rental should meet a minimum standard of repair and cleanliness. Especially at this time. I booked in advance, paid required amount plus a $1000 deposit, flew in so I didn't have much of a choice when I arrived.

Wish I could give a better rating, but unfortunately I cannot recommend doing business with Tim. The truck setup is great, and we thoroughly enjoyed it for most of our 8-day trip. However, with two days left the truck broke down (clutch failed), and we got stuck on the side of the highway in the evening. After failing to reach the owner we called a tow truck. Spent the next morning coordinating with the owner to have the truck towed to a dealership for repair, and then finding another truck to rent for the rest of our trip.
Given that the vehicle we rented broke down partway through the rental period, I assumed it would be reasonable to refund some of our rental fee. After all, we lost half a day and had to spend money on a second rental truck and camping supplies for the remainder of our trip. Instead the owner complained to us about all of the money he lost on the repair costs (which apparently he does not realize should be factored into the rental fee to cover preventative maintenance on a truck with 200k+ miles). After finally agreeing to refund 1 day of the rental fee, he then failed to actually transfer the money and stopped responding to our messages.
Tim initially seemed like a nice enough guy, but my further interactions with him have shown dishonesty and a lack of consideration for the people who paid him good money to rent his vehicle. Recommend looking elsewhere.
