Green Valley is a small retirement community in Pima County, Arizona. Search for an RV in Green Valley and you are ready to explore Arizona like no one else. Green Valley has three seasons, April to June when it is hot and dry, July to September when it is hot and humid (monsoon season) and October to March when days are warm but nights are chilly. Only about 5% of the people living here are under the age of 44, while around 70% of the population is 65 years of age or older.

Other towns and cities that aren't too far away include Tucson, Vail, Tombstone, Elgin and Sierra Vista. Start off in Green Valley and then head out in your Green Valley camper rental to check out the rest of this part of Arizona.

Discover Green Valley

The Great Outdoors

The best way to learn about the history of the area is to visit the Historic Hacienda de la Canoa (“hacienda” is Spanish for “ranch”). This 30-acre ranch has been lovingly restored, with the original ranching equipment still on hand; from the buildings, you can see the Santa Rita Mountains. The Santa Cruz River is nearby but it flows underground in this area, popping up briefly at the Springs at La Canoa which aren't far away.

Agriculture is one of the main industries in and around Green Valley, and the Green Valley Farmers Market is a good representation of what is available. Vendors display organic foods direct from the farm, artisan crafts such as wood carvings and jewelry, and much, much more. It is located next to the Green Valley Mall and is busier in the winter than in the summer (summer markets are held indoors to escape the heat). When you have a motorhome rental in Green Valley, you can park it at the mall and you won't need to worry about getting that produce back to a fridge and out of the heat.

RV Parks

There are a number of RV parks to choose from, both in Green Valley and nearby, but many of them seem to be a mix of seasonal and permanent sites. This is a retirement town so it is no surprise. Situate your Green Valley luxury RV rental at any of these establishments and you will feel like you have retired here as well.

De Anza RV Resort has some sites that are pull through, and park amenities include full hookups with 30/50 amp service, restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, a heated sauna, swimming pool and spa, a community garden and a clubhouse with a billiards room, wireless internet, fitness room, card and game room, lounge, library, auditorium and more.

Tucson – Lazydays KOA has sites with full hookups and 50-amp service, pull-through sites and big rig access, wireless internet, and pool access. It also has a Texas barbecue restaurant and a grocery store. Some of the sites have solar panels which provide shade.

Desert Trails RV Park in Tucson has full hookups, 50-amp service, wireless internet, pull-through and big rig access, and a swimming pool. It has restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, a heated pool, cactus gardens, great mountain views and well-marked hiking trails in the state park next door. Take a swim and then retire to the canopy shade of your Green Valley rental motorhome for an afternoon siesta.

Exploring The City

Despite its origins as a mining town, Green Valley is also home to the Community Performance & Art Center, one of several establishments for concerts, plays and many other forms of entertainment. Former guests mention that the acoustics here are perfect and that there are no bad seats.

The Joyner-Green Valley Library might seem like an unusual attraction but it can be an oasis on a hot Arizona afternoon. There is a wide selection of books and DVD movies; if you don't see what you want, the library can borrow materials from other nearby libraries. It regularly sells older books to assist with the operating costs, and purchases you make will help to keep the library afloat. Take a book or DVD back to your Green Valley RV rental and your evening's entertainment is guaranteed.

When it's time for dinner, there are a number of restaurants to choose from of relatively standard cuisine choices; but don't let that fool you. You can choose from Mexican, southwestern and American food, pizza parlors, bistros, bakeries, and delis.

Those who would prefer to dine in, in the comfort of their Green Valley travel trailer rental, can pick up supplies in town. There are numerous grocery stores around, and also local grocers selling produce fresh off the farm that morning.
