Buffalo National River is located in north-central Arkansas, barely 50 miles from the state border with Missouri. The tiny communities of Snowball and St. Joe are located within about 15 minutes of the river. The nearest larger town is Harrison, found around 50 miles to the northwest, while the nearest city is Fayetteville, which is over 100 miles to the west.

While here, tour the Mystic Caverns that are located nearby. There are multiple caves and a crystal dome to view here. You can also visit The Collier Homestead at Tyler Bend. Here, a short hike will take you to a restored, old homestead. The old cabin and barn are available to view and tour, as are the surrounding grounds.
