First time in an RV, prior camping trips were tents or pop-ups. Betty was easy to drive and comfortable. Patrick was available and helpful when I called twice for help. No issue with the RV, just my inexperience using the systems.

Patrick was awesome - friendly and very responsive. Betty worked out very well for us, but she's been around and seen a lot, so there was some wear and tear. Nonetheless, this experience was a great way for us to see what Sprinter van life is like, and it was awesome to take our 76 pound dog, Moose, with us. We're intrigued and would do it again!

First time renting an RV was a breeze thanks to Patrick. Betty was incredibly easy to drive, park and maneuver. We had a couple questions during the trip and he was quick to respond. Great experience overall.

Patrick responds quickly and explained Betty to us well. The van ran like a champ, and the bed is unexpectedly comfortable and roomy. We had an amazing time, even in hanging in the van in the rain.

We loved this trip! Patrick is super helpful and he knows every detail of the vehicle. Read the reviews carefully -there are idiosyncrasies and imperfections in a camper van, and this is no exception. I also want to share that it was our first camper van experience - we are starting with renting to see if we want to buy one - and it took some adjusting to get in the groove. If you are in the same situation, I recommend renting for at least 6 days if you can! By day 4 we both were totally on board!!!

As owners of a compact car, we found Betty surprisingly easy to drive; she does tend to sway a bit when turning, and we learned to take turns as slowly as traffic would allow. And Patrick was very helpful in talking us through a few quirks of operation.

Great experience, Patrick was a true professional, I highly recommend renting from him. We traveled from Philadelphia to Los Angeles and then Los Angeles back to Philly, The RV delivered as described, great outdoors experience thanks to this vehicle. A few high points:
*The Generator was very efficient, we were able to run it for many hours without having to worry about refilling the propane.
*The bed in the back was fantastic, very comfy, big enough for 3 people if needed.
*The bathroom and kitchen were such a convenience, they really came in handy.
We never drove an RV before and were concerned that we would not know how to use everything, but Patrick walked us through it all and was readily available whenever we had additional questions. Thank you Patrick for everything!!

My family went camping in western MD for the weekend. We had a blast and the van made our trip easy and fun! Thanks Patrick!

It was a real pleasure renting this RV for a week. It has absolutely everything you need for a getaway — shower, toilet, microwave, stove, refrigerator, TV, and all the necessary materials. I went to a festival at a campground that had no showers due to a drought, and all my friends were jealous at how luxurious my RV was. But, what truly made it a five-star experience was interactive with Patrick. He was thorough in his orientation, available to answer questions at any time via call or text, and very kind and understanding during various mishaps. I could not have asked to rent from a better host. FIVE STARS!

The RV was amazing.
Jack was always there when I needed him.
Thanks you.

Meghan’s answer

He meant Patrick not Jack. It was a pleasure to rent to Charle and all went well.

This was my first RV trip and I had a great time! This is easy to drive, makes good mileage (I went from Baltimore to Atlanta and back) and comfortable for sleeping. Patrick took a lot of time with the checkout by phone, which we needed to be contactless in the age of COVID, but I do think I didn't retain as much. That being said, both times I texted Patrick with questions he replied immediately with a phone call and was not only helpful, but incredibly cheerful as well.

This was our first RV trip and Patrick made sure we felt comfortable with everything. He was always available to answer our questions before and during the trip.

The RV is in great shape and Patrick is great to work with. He was very up front about some issues with the RV—nothing huge but there was a leak from the AC that’s noted in some other reviews. He told us how to mitigate that issue and it mostly helped us avoid it. He also was available for a call when we had some issues dumping the sewage. The only issue we ran into is that we stayed at a campsite that needed a 15 amp converter and there was not one in the RV (Patrick said there was one previously so it must have just gotten lost. Fortunately the campground we were staying at had one we could borrow. One positive thing not in the listing that I wish we would have known (and didn’t think to ask about) is that it did come with all the cooking utensils we needed—including a coffee maker. Also there were a couple of camping chairs which was really nice to have. We had brought our own and just ended up leaving them all in the car. Overall it was a fantastic experience and I’d highly recommend!

Meghan’s answer

Nice to have Adrian as a renter and the feedback is accurate. We now have a 15 AMP converter and the infamous AC leak has been fixed by an authorized RV dealer.

Patrick was great was very responsive to all the questions, even early in the morning :-) It was our first time renting through Outdoorsy and Patrick and would do it again. Very Happy! My only complaint is the van had the wimpiest horn sounded like I was driving a Prius.

Patrick is an excellent and interested owner and communicator. Since this was our first RV rental, we had many questions that came up as we were on the road. Without exception, Patrick immediately got back to us with the information we needed. The price of this rental was quite reasonable especially for longer trips considering the 200 free daily miles, which is a better deal than many other rentals. Unfortunately, the RV had a leak (likely from the AC). Although Patrick had shared this with us before the trip, it was nevertheless rather annoying at times. The leak could be controlled by parking the RV on a slight slope and most of the time that worked well. As soon as we returned the RV, he assured us that this would get repaired. There were a few other repairs that should be done such as the screen at the back doors. The screen needs to be replaced. As we were parked often near lakes, we could not keep the back doors open. We would have been covered by mosquitos. It would seem that these inconveniences can easily be repaired to make the RV experience even better. We would rent again from Patrick, especially if the repairs have been made.

Meghan’s answer

It was wonderful to have Jan and his wife as renters and as discussed we had a workaround in process regarding the water leak. That has since been fixed by an authorized RV repair place (Camping World). We have the back screen on order to fix before the next bug season. I believe there was a tear in the left side that makes if very difficult to seal. This trip was the first time I've become aware of this issue so addressing it is a priority. For the next few months it might not be a problem as the weather is getting colder.

2September 2020

We rented the van for a week to travel in the mountains. Patrick the owner was very helpful in talking on the phone to educate us how to use various features of the van and was friendly until we returned and asked for a refund for several nights. Why a refund? Because this vehicle is not worth approximately $230 per night and has issues that are seriously frustrating. It is not worth that amount because: the leaks noted by a previous reviewer were not fixed; during our week of travel, it turned into a veritable flood on the bed and floor if we used the shower or the AC. So no shower and no AC, the entire trip, and high heat and humidity. We had three full days of discussions with Patrick about our "water, water everywhere" situation, including numerous photos, etc but no fix. Patrick suggested we take the van to a repair shop; that would not have been a workable solution given our location in the mountains, the lack of such repair shops, the impossibility of getting an immediate appointment and our lack of desire to spend our vacation time or our money dealing with his vehicle's known problems.
We understand renting a camper is not renting a hotel room. We understand the need to do workarounds and we did wherever possible. For example, there was the broken parking brake that he knew about and we had to discover (ok no incline parking, even though our trip was in the mountains); a nonworking tire pressure sensor monitor (which he knew about and chose not to have repaired); low tire pressure (22 and 35 psi in the front tires out of a required 47 when we picked up the van); only a half a tank of fuel upon pick up (which we made sure was the same level upon return); a constant beeping on the control panel every 15 minutes with a symbol showing the van was overdue for maintenance (which we could not turn off, despite Patrick's many how to ideas and best efforts); the broken gauges for the grey and black tanks which always showed they were full (so pump out regularly); difficult hoses attached to rusting control arms; the retractable step which sometimes worked (no problem, we can jump up); two interior lights that did not work (we had flashlights); a nonworking bathroom fan; chips in the windshield at eye level; and a none too clean van when we picked it up (clean toilet, dirty shower pan, clean floors, dirty sink, stove top and compartments, and very dirty coffee pot and other utensils, which we left in our parked car and replaced with our own, and then returned in the same condition). But as Patrick mentioned in his response to our query as to what his Covid 19 cleaning protocols were, he relies on the renters for cleaning to a large extent, though he sanitized the toilet and steering wheel (you wouldn't bet on the sanitized nature of the toilet tank, which smelled our entire trip). We cleaned the interior of the van upon return and returned it cleaner than we received it, but it just seems lackadaisical and not safe practice to rely on renters cleaning, especially during this pandemic time.
On the way to return the van, the DEF light went on (lots of control panel activity all trip). We did not fill it up and so notified Patrick, namely, because we could not find the product at the gas station which sold diesel fuel. Having read the three pages of instructions in the manual which warn repeatedly that any false step will result in the release of ammonia vapors, and also that the van was good for another 1,000 miles after the light came on (we only traveled less than 100 while it was on), it was clear to us that putting in DEF fluid was not at all like putting in oil. Also, even this insufficiency could have been avoided by the owner's topping up the DEF tank after each rental (too much work).
So we dealt and/or lived with everything BUT the water, water, everywhere (seriously we covered the leaking areas and ourselves with trash bags when we finally could not stand it anymore and turned on the AC this past Friday; see for yourself).
So those are the reasons that this rental is not worth the $230 per night. Or any price unless you enjoy dampness, beeping and odors.

Meghan’s answer

These two renters were very pleasant at first and then surprisingly ended up being angry renters. I'm very sorry that had such a tough time with our RV. If you look at the other reviews, all of them 5-stars, you might want to weigh those in with what these two experienced.

The vehicle was clean, comfortable and lots of fun. We wanted a mobile rest stop for our children to avoid interaction on the way to our camping, hiking and beach trips. Cooking was a breeze, outdoor shower allowed us to rinse off before getting back in and the awning provided shade when we needed it. Our girls are 4 and 12 and both were super excited to get in and hit the road everyday. Dumping the waste and filling up the water tank was also breeze. Easier than expected for first time RVers. Pretty spacious for a family of four taking a bunch of day trips. We didn't sleep overnight since we were only a few hours from home. Thank you Patrick for walking us through everything before we took off. We had a contactless transfer and everything went smoothly.Would definitely rent again!

My wife and I took this RV on a week-long trip from Baltimore to Maine and back in August 2020. Overall, the RV lived up to our expectations. It was surprisingly easy and comfortable to drive—and park in standard parking spaces in those quaint little New England towns—and we achieved an impressive 22 mpg on the trip.

Meghan’s answer

Frank and his wife were wonderful renters and it was great to have them as stewards of Big Bertha's Sister. It turns out the pedestal table leg had a design flaw (as the RV is new to me and that might have been an after market fix that looked like it worked but it didn't). With a hacksaw and some elbow grease, I was able to fix it so it works now. The other issue with the leak is being addressed. It has to do with the condensation on the overhead A/C. I have an appointment scheduled in August but while she is still on the road, we have a workaround. I've included two levelers for the rear tires so that slightly raising the back of the vehicle while parking makes that condensation water drain forward off the front windshield instead of into the cabin.

We had an awesome time with this rental on a turn and burn from VA to AR. Patrick was amazing and facilitated our transaction professionally from start to finish.

The van is exactly as advertised. Two of us traveled across the US (east to west and back east) going to national parks, visiting friends, and RV camping in various locations (in RV parks, wineyards, national parks, etc). We lived in the van for all the travel days. It kept us safe and sound in comfort through COVID country! The van is easy to take care of and easy to drive. Best of all - Patrick is super friendly, available at all times, and very helpful.

Patrick was excellent from the very first inquiry to the last. He was pleasant and eager to ensure we knew how to use the vehicle properly. The van was clean and ran very well. When we couldn't figure out a beeping noise that kept binging, Patrick was pleasant and will to brainstorm solutions. We thoroughly enjoyed the van. It was easy to drive and presented no issues for myself to maneuver. We were able to prepare delicious meals in the kitchen, and there was more than enough room to store all the food we had for the four-day camping trip.
