Meet your host, Courtney

Member since 2021

Along with my Husband and two pups, we have traveled all the way to the west coast and back in this spectacular van conversion of ours. We have visited breath taking landscapes and explored many of the landmarks this country has to offer. Even after several weeks on the road, we both just want to jump back in the van and continue exploring.

Q.Do we need to plug the van into power every night?
A.
No, our van comes equipped with very efficient solar panels. With past experience, even with a week straight of cloudy and rainy weather, we didn't find the need to charge up the batteries from a campground.

Q.How warm does the van get at night without air conditioning?
A.
This does depend of where you are planning your trip and the time of the year. The van comes equipped with a very powerful (but quiet) ceiling fan along with another circulating 12v fan inside (Close to the bed). With these, the van never gets hotter that the outside temperature. A good tip is to keep an eye on the nightly forecast, we find if at night, the temperature is below 80 degrees then it's fine. If above 80, we tend to look for campgrounds a little higher in elevation for a cooler time

Q.What does the "Mileage" consist of?
A.
We offer our renters 125mi per day completely free. (Outdoorsy recommends only 100mi, but we feel you need a bit more to truly do some exploring!) This is then multiplied by the number of days you are renting the van. For example, if you rent for 10 days, that is 125mi x 10 which comes to a total of 1250mi completely free for your trip! If by any chance you pass this amount during your trip, Outdoorsy charges a small fee of $0.35 per mile thereafter.

Q.How cold does it get at night in the van?
A.
Our van is very well insulated with Havelock wool and so retains warmth. We also provide you with a gas heater that heats the van up very fast! We recommend heating up the van just before bedtime using the gas heater then turning it off, this should keep the van warm for the night. Then you can turn the heater on again in the morning so that when you get out of bed, it's nice and toasty in the van! We also supply thick duvets and very warm blankets to keep you nice and cozy in the winter!
