Information About Anaheim, CA
What’s the first thing you think of when you hear “Anaheim”? It’s almost certainly Disneyland, aka “The Happiest Place on Earth.” While that nickname is well earned, there’s actually quite a bit more going on in this Orange County suburb than just being the home of Mickey Mouse.
Expect to find it easy and convenient to rent an RV in Anaheim, California, with so many attractions nearby and RV parks that are within close proximity to them. Los Angeles is just a half hour drive away, too. If you do decide to venture into LA, the Metrolink can get you there quickly and cheaply, while your RV rental in Anaheim remains safely parked.
RV Parks in Anaheim
For being so close to the densely populated city of Los Angeles, Anaheim has a good selection of RV parks and some of them are even located close to the downtown area. Both Anaheim RV Park and Anaheim Harbor RV Park are right off of the Santa Ana Freeway and are within walking distance to Disneyland. Anaheim Harbor even has a free shuttle to Disneyland. If you need groceries or any basic supplies for the Anaheim RV rental by owner, there’s a Walmart Neighborhood Market within a mile, too. A few miles to the East, you’ll find Orangeland RV Park. Prices are about the same as the parks closer to Disneyland, but you won’t have to deal with as much traffic and public transport can get you to the theme park.
The Canyon RV Park is located about fifteen miles to the Northeast of downtown Anaheim, right off of California Highway 91 Expressway, along the Santa Ana River. While it is a little out of the way, the more tranquil setting and easy access to Chino Hills State Park and Coal Canyon make it the perfect site to park the Anaheim motorhome rental for those wanting a quieter experience.
Ten miles to the Southeast is Village RV Park, in the adjacent city of Westminster. Its main advantage is that it’s located about halfway between Anaheim and Seal Beach. If you plan to spend some time lounging on the sand when you rent an RV in Anaheim, this would be a good place to stay.
Exploring the City of Anaheim
Obviously, the most popular attraction in Anaheim is Disneyland, and if you have kids (or don’t), you’ll probably need to make a stop there. Admission is a little more than $100/per day/per person, so keep that in mind when you’re budgeting for your trip here. There’s also the adjacent Disney California Adventure Park if Disneyland wasn’t quite enough for you.
Sports fans will definitely want to catch an LA Angels baseball game (formerly Anaheim Angels). The ball field is only a few miles from the theme parks and easily accessible by public transportation or your Anaheim rental RV. If you’re more of a hockey fan, you can always catch an Anaheim Ducks game at the Honda Center too. For a little culture, head to the Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center. They always have some creative exhibits on display and it’s a great place to learn about the history of Anaheim.
Foodies won’t want to miss the Anaheim Packing District, a former citrus plant that’s been converted into a gourmet food hall. Here you’ll find crepes, hot pots, soul food, salads, and just about any other cuisine under the sun. When you need to burn off all those calories, hit up the Anaheim Gardenwalk Shopping Center. While many of the higher end clothing retailers left a few years ago, it still has some great shopping along with the Bowlmor bowling alley and the House of Blues for concerts providing excellent entertainment for the whole family.
Things to Do Outside near Anaheim
If you’re just looking for a place to have a picnic or walk the dog, Yorba Regional Park on the Santa Ana River is probably the closest green space. Runners will appreciate the 20 miles of walking path along the river; that’s enough trail to train for your next marathon. Only 20 miles from Anaheim is the 14,000 acre Chino Hills State Park, which offers over 60 miles of hiking trails for outdoor enthusiasts wanting a more rustic experience.
Orange County is famous for its beaches and Anaheim is quite close to a few of them. Laguna, Seal, Huntington, and Newport Beach are all within easy driving distance with your Anaheim camper rental. Bring a towel, cooler, and maybe an umbrella to enjoy California’s famously sunny skies and beautiful blue waters.
RV rentals in Anaheim can provide you with endless opportunities for exploring the beauty of Southern California. Joshua Tree National Park is less than two hours to the East, and while it’s primarily known for its great hiking trails, it also has some truly weird desert attractions including Noah Purifoy’s Outdoor Sculpture Park, the Institute of Mentalphysics, and the Hicksville Trailer Park Palace.
