The Great Outdoors

Californians are lucky to have so much protected land and the people constantly working to preserve it. Yosemite National Park is one of the most visited national parks in the country and most overnight hikes require a permit. Reserving a spot here is recommended since most permits are granted on a first-come-first-serve basis. Day hikes don’t require a permit, and there are plenty of those for visitors who want to go for a quick walk.

For a short and easy hike, there is the Lower Yosemite Falls Trail, which a mile-long loop trail that only has 52 feet of elevation gain. This simple trail offers gorgeous vistas of Yosemite Falls — one of the tallest in North America, and the world as well. However, the falls, like most other waterfalls in Yosemite, tend to be dry during the summer and winter months, and they are at their best in the spring. The Glacier Point Trail is an even shorter hike but delivers some truly amazing views of the Half-Dome, an impressive natural structure worshipped amongst climbers. Finally, the Mirror Lake via Valley Loop Trail is an easy trail. At almost seven miles long, this trail may not be hard, but it is longer than most others trails of this difficulty.

Sequoia National Park is the other national park in the area, and wow, this place is impressive. The Tokopah Valley Trail to Tokopah Falls is pretty amazing as you walk underneath tall pines. The three-mile-long trail is not too hard, and there’s the reward of a waterfall for your troubles. For a shorter hike, one could take the General Sherman Trail, which is about three-quarters of a mile long out and back. The trail gets its name for the giant sequoia, known as General Sherman, that marks the beginning of the hike. There is another trail that begins at the General Sherman tree, and it is called the Congress Trail, but this trail is a bit longer. The Congress Trail treks for a little over three miles while surrounding you with vertiginous sequoia trees, an experience that you’ll truly remember. There are trails galore at these two national parks, and other activities too, like mountain biking, snowshoeing, kayaking, and climbing.

RV Parks

Even the most hardened adventurer needs some sleep and what better place to park your RV than at a national park. It should go without saying, but do some research regarding park rules and other things like amenities, reservations, and the size of your RV.

Yosemite could be a great place to park your Clovis RV rental but it fills up fast. If the park is full, then the Yosemite RV Resort is another option for the Clovis motorhome rental. This campground is only 25 miles from Yosemite’s south entrance and has water and electric hookups, as well as WiFi, showers and a pool.

If you’re looking for a spot near Clovis, the Fresno Mobile Home and RV park is an option. Expect hot showers, WiFi, cable, a pool and even a laundry room to wash those hiking pants. There are also many large grocery stores in the area that are perfect for parking the Clovis rental RV for the night.

Exploring the City

The parks in the area are amazing, but there is plenty of exploration to be done in the city of Clovis, too. To start it off, visit Old Town Clovis and check out local goods and vintage items. There are antique shops for collectors as well as art stores, coffee shops, and restaurants dishing out the local cuisine. The farmers market has local produce and handmade crafts.

For more modern stores selling the newest wares and trendiest clothing, there is the Avenue, which is home to a myriad of stores and excellent eateries. In the summer months, cool off with a visit to the Wild Water Adventure Park, which is one of the biggest attractions in the area. They have plenty of shade, and pools and water rides to keep you and your family cool. Clovis is not a town that is talked about much, but it is quickly becoming a destination for tourists all over the country. Don’t miss out on some California fun; rent a motorhome in Clovis for your next adventure.
