Travel to Northern California and you may stumble across Santa Clara County and the city of Gilroy. Here is a quaint yet considerable city that anyone can enjoy! The family-oriented atmosphere is enriching, the shopping sales are superb, and Gilroy has been named “heaven” for those who love garlic.

There’s plenty to do within the city itself, but there’s also so much more to explore that sits just outside the city. But, why worry over finding vacancy at several hotels and limiting your experiences to whether or not you like the hotels?

When you search for an RV in Gilroy, you can find the perfect place to stay wherever you go. When you rent an RV, you open up a whole new world of vacationing. No longer stay where you have to; stay where you want to.

Discover Gilroy

Where To Stay

Among Gilroy’s northern city limits, you will find Bear Ranch County Park and Coyote Lake. This almost 5,000-acre gem is perfect when you want to get off the beaten path a bit. Spend the morning out fishing on the lake, go horseback riding or backpack along the over 33 miles of winding trails; even camp for a night or so.

The park provides over 70 RV, camper, and tent-ready campsites with tables, fire pits, food storage lockers, and hookups for electric and water. Dump stations are close by and hot showers are available to all who camp here, making this park a perfect spot to park your Gilroy RV rental.

Travel less than 40 miles northwest to spend your evening in the neighboring city, San Jose. After a day out enjoying the natural wilderness, an evening immersed in this part of Silicon Valley is an ironic ending. San Jose is a major tech hub where you will not only find surroundings rich in science and technology, but a whole vibrant community that also embraces the arts and exciting attractions that have helped build this city.

Another favorite way to spend the day around Gilroy is at the Soquel Demonstration State Forest in Los Gatos, CA. Situated in the Santa Cruz Mountains, the Soquel Demonstration State Forest provides public access to beautiful, awe-inspiring coastal Redwoods and the wildlife that calls this part of California home.

The forest is seismic, with two fault lines passing through the property. Because of this geologic activity, visitors get to enjoy the naturally formed springs and marshes that are found in several closed-off depressions.

The unique forest is a phenomenal transition from urban life to coastal tranquility, and as a “working forest”, Soquel provides excellent opportunities for visitors to get a hands-on approach to education, as well a well-loved source for bicycling, hiking, horseback riding, and picnicking.

Unfortunately, visitors can’t spend the night here, but the forest makes for an excellent way to get out and enjoy the California sunshine! With your Gilroy camper rental, you have the option to stay close by or continue on westward to the coast, where Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park offers other places to park.

The Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park is also located within the same Santa Cruz Mountain range and hosts towering, ancient redwoods. This spectacular scenery captivates travelers from all over the globe. Here,  you can spend your day amongst the giants hiking, biking, horseback riding, swimming, and more. When you don’t want to end your day, simply park your RV rental at the park’s campground. (Be advised that the maximum length for campers here is 35 feet.)

A Call To The Coast

If the trees don’t have you tantalized, take your rental about 10 miles south and you will hit the beaches of Santa Cruz. Downtown offers a shopper’s paradise and foodies won’t find any trouble getting some delicious dining in, no matter what part of town you’re in. Santa Cruz’s Beach Boardwalk is a true favorite, with vintage rides, a host of other attractions, casinos and more. Here, you can spend the day soaking up the sun and the night soaking up the fun!

You’ll find RV parks and resorts surrounding the coastline, so you won’t be without options in choosing the best spot to rest your Gilroy luxury RV. If you would still prefer to park in a nearby campground, by all means - please, do! This vacation is about you and where you want to stay. If that means outside of the hustle and bustle, you won’t have any issues getting just that. Nearby shops and other convenience stores, gas, and more make this an ideal stop.

Travel To Ancient Fields

About 50 miles south of our start in Gilroy, Pinnacles National Park is another portion of this part of the world that you won’t want to miss. Here, you will find the remnants of an ancient volcanic field and a park full of caves, caverns, and other geological wonders.  People come from all walks here to hike, climb, watch and experience. Many note that fall and winter are some of the best times to view the Pinnacles’ splendor.

That means the nights are going to be a bit chilly, but with the best RV rental in Gilroy, you won’t have to worry about giving up any creature comforts during your stay. The RV sites here also have hookups for electric, community picnic tables, BBQ pits, and there is water provided throughout the campgrounds.

Gilroy Has It All

As you venture back toward the city to return your Gilroy RV rental by owner, don’t forget to take the time to see what this place offers. You’ll want more than just a day planned for here! Gilroy has golf, museums, shops, boutiques, markets, gardens, art, culture, and (did we mention?) garlic! Gilroy is also home to magnificent gourmet mushrooms and organic produce, helping to round out this city as a perfect place for your eyes, your stomach, and your soul to feast.

Take in your vacation at your own pace and experience this piece of Santa Clara County like you’re supposed to, with the convenience of a rented RV, camper, or trailer.
