Lincoln lies about a 30-minute drive north of California’s state capital, Sacramento. It’s also just an easy drive from the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Tahoe National Forest, and about a 90-minute drive from Lake Tahoe. Book an RV in Lincoln and you’ll have the opportunity to see all of these great places while enjoying the convenience of your mobile lodging.
Although the mountains are quite close by, Lincoln is anything but a rugged mountain town. Rather it sits in the heart of Northern California’s lush Wine Country. The valley is one of the fastest growing areas in the country, with many residents moving here to get away from population density and high rent prices found in the San Francisco Bay area.
If you are a nature lover, you will not regret getting a Lincoln travel trailer rental. The nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains are a veritable playground of outdoor recreation with hundreds of miles of trails crisscrossing the peaks. On the other side of the mountains is Lake Tahoe, one of the largest and most beautiful alpine lakes in the country. Here you can swim, paddle out with a couple of kayak rentals, or just enjoy a quiet afternoon lounging on the shore. There’s no wrong way to enjoy the outdoors in this part of California.
However, that’s not to say there are great things to do outside closer to Lincoln. Golfers will appreciate that there are several courses in the area. For the adrenaline junkie, skydiving excursions can be booked, during which passengers head up to 10,000 feet and are then told to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. Tandem jumps are also available, offering a less heart-pounding way to experience your first skydive.
When you rent an RV in Lincoln, a pleasant stroll can be had at Coyote Pond Park on the southern edge of town. There’s a great walking path around the pond and a mile-long trail connects it to nearby McCormick Park and Boulder Ridge Park. Rent some wheels from one of the bike shops in nearby Folsom and hit the trails for an afternoon of fun.
There aren’t too many RV parks near to Lincoln, but fortunately Interstate 80 does run close by and there are a number of parks located adjacent to it. Loomis RV Park is one of the closest and is about 10 miles to the southeast. The park has sites with full hookups, and also offers laundry facilities and a playground for the little ones. It’s also quite close to the Roseville Galleria Mall and a casino if you’re looking to do a little shopping or gaming.
Auburn Gold Country RV Park is another place to consider parking your camper rental near Lincoln. It’s about 15 miles from town and it has a heated swimming pool, spa, laundry facilities, fishing pond, and a playground. If you’re thinking about spending more time in the mountains during your Lincoln motorhome rental vacation, this will get you a bit closer to the action and make day trips more convenient.
There is a Walmart in Roseville, just a 10-minute drive to the south. If you’re only spending a night or two here with the Lincoln camper rental, it’s possible to dry camp in the parking lot with manager permission.
Lincoln is so close to Sacramento that you’ll never be short on things to do, but that’s not to say that you need to drive there to find any entertainment. Lincoln has loads of fun things to do and much of it will be within a 10-minutes drive.
When in Northern California you really must try the wine. The region has some of America’s most productive vineyards and you can tour several of them during your time here. At most of them, you can learn about the grape growing process and how it goes from vine to glass. Then sip a sample of a few of their finest vinos while taking in awe-inspiring scenery.
While this might be Wine Country, hopheads have nothing to fear, with local breweries serving up some of the best tasting suds in Northern California. With a great selection of brews and plenty of delicious pub grub on some of their menus, these breweries can be some of the best places to hang out and take in the local culture.
For a more family-friendly outing, plan a night out at the bowling alley in town. Or the kids might also enjoy the trampoline park; they can jump around for a few hours and burn off some of that excess energy from being inside the Lincoln, CA RV rental.
