With its gentle rolling shrub-covered hills slipping seamlessly into the vast Pacific Ocean, there is no wondering why so many of Hollywood’s many superstars choose to live in the stunning coastal town of Malibu in California. Just 30 miles west of downtown Los Angeles, Malibu offers a sweet blend of vibrant city lights, laid-back surf town vibes, and proximity to scores of incredible places to visit. In California, you are never far from something fun to do.

When you book an RV in Malibu, you have enormous flexibility when it comes to what type of vacation you want to have. You can take daytime excursions into Los Angeles using the Metrolink public transit system, or take the Malibu motorhome rental up one of the world's most stunning coastal roads, the Pacific Coast Highway, which reaches all the way north to San Jose, Oakland, and San Francisco. If you feel like just relaxing in the rental RV in Malibu, you really don’t even have to leave because the town’s many beaches will draw you in and make you wish you lived there.

The town also famously hosts some awesome events like the Malibu Arts Festival, the Malibu International Film Festival, the Malibu Nautica Triathlon, and the Malibu Chili Cook Off, so you are bound to come back again and again should you choose to visit this charming coastal town.

Discover Malibu

Experience the Sites and Scenery

When you choose to rent a camper in Malibu, CA, it is assumedly to enjoy the legendary beaches that serve as filming sites for hundreds of Hollywood feature films and TV shows. Carbon Beach, Surfrider Beach, Westward Beach, Escondido Beach, Paradise Cove, Point Dume, Pirates Cove, Zuma Beach, Trancas and Encinal Bluffs, to name a few, are all nice places to spend at least a day or two, especially if you want to ride some of the most well-known waves in the country. But aside from the shore, Malibu is surrounded by many fabulous state parks as well. Point Mugu State Park, located within the boundaries of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, can be reached easily in the Malibu RV rental in minutes. The wonderful little park features five miles of tranquil beaches, two rocky canyons, and a bevy of sycamore groves and forests containing oaks and native walnut trees. Malibu State Park is located just to the north of the downtown area, Home to several ancient Chumash villages on the shores of the creeks and lagoons, this park was donated by entertainer Bob Hope in an effort to preserve the gorgeous at-risk coastal scenery. This park was formerly owned and shared by a few Hollywood studios for filming purposes, but now exists as a recreation area featuring hiking trails, camping, fishing, mountain biking, and many more outdoors hobbies and activities.

There is always the option when vacationing in California to visit one of the stunning national parks that are located within the state’s borders. You can take the Malibu camper rental north to visit Death Valley National Park, or Yosemite National Park, or stick closer to Malibu and visit Joshua Tree National Park, about a few hours’ drive east of Los Angeles County. Joshua Tree is a serene stretch of land serving as a meeting ground between two distinct deserts, making for some exciting biodiversity and dreamy nighttime skies and stargazing. You can also ditch your Malibu rental RV for a day and take a ferry to visit the Channel Islands National Park off the coast of California. This chain of islands is home to many endangered species and remains untouched by development to this day. Where ever you decide to visit, just know that California has so much to offer when you decide to rent an RV in the magnificent “Golden State”.

City Attractions

You will never find yourself suffering from the clutches of boredom when visiting this lovely little town on the coast of southern California. It’s no secret that the best thing to do when you rent an RV in Malibu, is to simply sit back and dig your toes in the sand while staring at the rolling waves and throngs of surfers perfecting their craft. But the city itself has many fun options as far as activities or sightseeing goes. The Getty Villa, the second campus of the J. Paul Getty Museum, is a fine place to start your vacation and get a little dose of culture, too. The magnificent Mediterranean villa makes you feel as though you have been transported to the shores of southern France or Italy, and the nearly 44,000 Greek, Roman, and Etruscan artifacts held in the museum will only reinforce this notion.

The Santa Monica Pier in neighboring Santa Monica is an iconic place to enjoy the old-fashioned carnival feel and ride the old school wooden roller coasters overlooking the sea. The Malibu Pier is a bit more laid back, but still sits next to many fine dining options as well as interesting storefronts and surf rental shops. The waves next to this pier are some of the best for surfing in the world.

If you have seen all Malibu has to offer, nearby Los Angeles is a short ride away on the Metrolink, and you can see famous sites such as the Hollywood sign, the Walk of Fame, or any of the other attractions that you might find in a world-class city.

Where to Park It

One of the most obvious options when looking for a place to stay in the Malibu luxury motorhome rental, is none other than Malibu Beach RV Park. Proudly serving as the only RV park in Malibu, this place has tons of amenities. With a game room, laundry facilities, a convenience store, and a short walk to some of the regions nicest beaches, you will hardly need to leave your seaside RV campsite when staying at Malibu Beach RV Park. If you would like a more rugged and scenic place to stay when you rent an RV in Malibu, check out Malibu Creek State Park and its many wonderful campsites located between volcanic gorges, scenic pools, and spectacular vistas.
