The Yuba City Astronomical Observatory is a wonderful place for visitors of all ages. The observatory is owned and operated by a family trust and located south of the city near the Sutter Buttes Mountain Range. Visitors will be impressed with the entire facility. There is one nine foot dome for the brilliant scientists who study astronomy. There is also an 11 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The focused study using the observatory includes planetary, deep sky, NEO studies, photometry, and astrophotography. The observatory is operated by a trustee appointed by the family. The facilities were established in September of 2010. The staff at the observatory hosts star parties in order to get the people in the community to be excited about the sky above them at night. They focus is on providing educational programs for members of the community. All the members of the community and visitors are welcome to these special events.
The world famous Folsom Lake offers a ton of RV camping options along the scenic shores. As a bonus the American River trail ends here allowing you to hop on the bikes and ride a paved multi-use trail all the way down into Sacramento (just not that down part because it is uphill all the way back!) RV sites are available both with and without hookups so if you want to save some money on a campsite get a RV rental with a generator and book a primitive site.
SacWest RV Park & Campground in West Sacramento, California is an exciting location for a family excursion or an overnight stay. The campground has a staff devoted to maintaining a comfortable atmosphere and superb amenities. There are excellent sites with 30/50 amp supplies for pull-thru accommodations with room for vehicles up to 105?. The pool is heated from March thru October. The staff organizes many activities at the park including bingo games, smores around the campfire, and crafts for kids. The playground is a great attraction for the children in the family.

Old Sacramento?s fame lies in it being the last station of the Pony Express postal system in the west, which was the first transcontinental railroad. The historic park has more buildings of historical value than any other place in the West.
The California State Railroad Museum complex consists of six original, reconstructed, and new buildings. Over 225,000 square feet of total exhibit space, there are many things you can learn about the unique past and culture of the West. Many interactive exhibits demonstrate the importance of railroads in everyday life. The 21 restored locomotives include a Pullman style sleeping car and a Railway Post Office that visitors can actually board.
The first public art museum founded in the Western United States, today it's one of the most important art museums in California.
