Book your RV rental and stay in one of the few California State Park locations that offers full hookup service steps from the beach. Enjoy magnificent sunsets while you dine, play in the sand, and bring the long board for classic California waves.
Marin Park is the closest recreational vehicle park to San Francisco--just 10 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge, and only 14 miles from Berkeley. If you need a break from driving you can take a ferry or bus into San Francisco. The Muir Woods, Napa and Sonoma Valley, and Pt. Reyes and many other California attractions are within reach. This park has been busy so may not be available for your RV rental trip but may be an option for the shake-down night out.
University of California voted as one of the best public universities in the world, is a landmark of Berkeley and it has a classical architectural feel. There is an amazing tower located at the top of the hill, which offers spectacular views of the city. The library is a majestic building and there is a Greek amphitheater, where amazing performances are shown. UC Berkeley also has a dinosaur exhibition with some interesting replicas of tyrrannosarus rex and a teradactyl.
You can find this Redwood forest just a few miles over the ridge from downtown Oakland. Once the source of San Francisco Bay Area?s building supplies, logging is now history, and the park is home to regal 150 foot redwoods spread over 1,830 acres. On your hike or run you may be fortunate enough to see rare species such as the golden eagle and Alameda striped racer.
Use your RV rental to stay right down by the water. This campground operated by the Santa Cruz marina offers full hookup RV sites with views of the boats at dock. Walk to a whale watching boat charter or bike to one of the great restaurants or shops in the area. Make sure your RV rental is all self contained and book in advance for this popular location.
The park offers a variety of camping options (11 different parks to choose from) and recreational activities to keep you busy during your stay. You can go geocaching, golfing, horseback riding, enjoy the many water activities, practice your shooting and archery skills, and observe the many natural wonders found within the park.
The last manned lighthouse on the California coast, today it is part of the largest urban national park in the U.S., the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. If you enjoy a rugged hike then getting here will be fun, the half mile trail that leads to the lighthouse is steep, you can also discover the old Coast Guard rescue station, wildflowers, and pillow basalt rock formations.
