As part of the Greater Vancouver area, Delta is the perfect place to rent an RV to explore the city. You can drive into the city in about 20 minutes, but can also be exploring the surrounding mountains in Garibaldi Provincial Park, including Whistler, in a little over two hours. The ferry to Vancouver Island also leaves from Delta and a trip there feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Delta is host to one of the stranger border crossings between Canada and the U.S. - due to the boundary being drawn at the 49th parallel, the peninsula directly south of Delta, known as Point Roberts, lies in the United States. Residents there cannot cross back into the U.S. without going through Canada. As such, you’re sure to run into quite a few Americans while you’re in Delta.

Vancouver has a relatively developed public transportation system running in the area between Vancouver Harbor and the Fraser River - the downtown core of the city. Buses also go to some of the suburban region making accessing the city from Delta fairly easy. Leaving the Delta RV rental back at the park might be preferable, since traversing the city is simple via public transport.

If you want to stay closer to the main highway, there are a few campgrounds in the nearby city of Surrey. Hazelmere RV, Pacific Border RV Park, Peace Arch RV Park, and Border RV Park are all along Highway 99, which puts you about 40 minutes from Vancouver.

Exploring the City of Delta

First and foremost, Delta is a bedroom community of Vancouver, so most of the activities you’ll want to do probably involve hopping on a bus or train and spending an hour or so riding into the city. Fortunately, when you book an RV in Delta, you have plenty of options - up the stunningly Pacific coastline, east to the Rocky Mountains and Banff National Park, or south into Washington.

However, that’s not to say there’s nothing to do in Delta. Craft beer fans and wine lovers will enjoy the local breweries and wineries that can be found around town. Kids will love spending the day at Big Splash Water Park, which has a tube slide, splash park, and a newly renovated pool. Watermania in nearby Richmond is another option if you need to get your water slide fix. The Tsawwassen Mills shopping center has a number of outlet stores along with boutique brands and several restaurants. Or, enjoy window shopping in Vancouver.

Getting Outside Near Delta

Stanley Park is the place to go with the Delta rental RV to enjoy some time in nature. The park occupies the peninsula jutting out into Vancouver Harbor that separates the protected waters of the harbor from the Pacific Ocean. For those hoping to find a good spot to enjoy nature close to their RV park, Watershed Park on Delta’s northeastern edge is fantastic. If you’re craving some sand between your toes during your vacation with the camper rental near Delta, Centennial Beach on Delta’s east side is one of the best places to go for a day of fun in the sun.
