The historic downtown area is teeming with activity, with a constant stream of visitors pouring into town to shop, eat, and stay.The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Museum celebrates the important legacy of the railroads in places like Colorado. This industry helped shape the formation of the country, taming the wild frontiers and making them accessible. This legacy is covered in great detail when you visit its charming museum, but there is more to do than take informative tours. You can ride the historic, refurbished train and see what pioneers and people in the Old West once saw when riding the rails through the scenic countryside over a century ago. The Durango Fish Hatchery & Wildlife Museum preserves and protects native species to the area while informing the general public about the amazing native critters that call Colorado home.
