Discover Eldorado Springs

Explore the Outdoors

When plotting out your map of parks to visit when you rent an RV, consider Eldorado Canyon State Park. You literally don’t even have to leave town to find this outdoor gem, which contains part of the famous Flatirons, a large rock formation that rises above Boulder. The park’s claim to fame is its accessible climbing rock faces that have a variety of different difficulty types for climbers of every ability. Aside from rock climbing, which is by far the most popular attraction, mountain biking, hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing are fantastic ways to enjoy the views and get around the park. Sadly, there are no camping spots available at Eldorado Canyon State Park for you and your Eldorado Springs camper rental.

Another nearby recreation destination is Golden Gate Canyon State Park, with miles of delightfully wooded trails weaving through the forests and canyons. The trails are commonly enjoyed by mountain bikers, horseback riders, and hikers. Scenic vistas and historical buildings are fun to find while trekking through the forested hills where black bears and moose have been known to roam. There are camping spots available for you when you here when you bring your Eldorado Springs camper rental for a stay.

Lake Granby up in the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest is a lovely mountain getaway with pleasant views and refreshing waters for fishing, swimming, boating, and water skiing. The lake is lined with parks and campgrounds making it a breeze to plan your trip after you rent an RV and head up to the mountains. Sunset Point, Cutthroat Bay, Arapaho Bay, and Grand Bay campgrounds are all suitable options for you and your Eldorado Springs RV rental by owner.

Don’t forget to spend a couple of days or more at Rocky Mountain National Park, the stunning nature enclave in the mountains rife with beauty and wildlife. Tiptoe through the meadows of wildflowers beneath several of the country’s largest mountains towering over 14,000 feet. This park is excellent no matter when you visit, with snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and backcountry skiing to enjoy in winter, and lots of recreational opportunities in the summertime too. You might have guessed that the park can accommodate both RV and tent camping, so you have a safe, comfortable, scenic place to camp with your Eldorado Springs motorhome rental.

RV Parks to Visit

There might not be as many attractions as you had hoped aside from the incredible nature and hot springs, but Eldorado Springs does not suffer from a shortage of campgrounds. Rainbow Lakes Campground in the national forest, for instance, is an option for outdoors enthusiasts to get lost in the woods and enjoy true tranquility. Boulder County Fairgrounds Campground is used primarily for housing guests for the annual Boulder County Fair, but it is usable all year round. The park has all the minimum requirements and basics.

Estes Park KOA is a bit farther from town in Estes Park but allows you time and freedom to check out one of Colorado’s other favorite mountain towns. Denver West/Central City KOA is the other KOA campground in the area. This campground has a hot tub and sauna, a pavilion, and is a short walk from many of the area’s finest features.

City Sightseeing

If you want to see some excellent city attractions or enjoy some quality nightlife, Eldorado Springs might not be the place for you. Nearby Denver and Boulder are more than suitable options though if you absolutely cannot live without the sights and sounds of the big city.

Although Eldorado Springs is a tiny resort town, there are still a couple of cool things to do when you rent an RV there. The Eldorado Springs Pool is one of the things the town is known best for. This massive pool was once considered the largest in the country before being eclipsed by others. It is nestled beneath mountain peaks in the Rockies, making for some stellar scenery to accompany you while you swim. You can also frequently find hot springs and other natural springs throughout that are touted for their health benefits.

In Boulder, you can take a trip to the Fiske Planetarium at University of Colorado Boulder. This wonderful facility is a great place to learn about outer space with hands-on lessons, informational tours, and light shows. The Boulder Farmers Market is a great place to get a feel for the city of Boulder, where people can go to buy and sell locally made wares and artisan food. Colorado Shakespeare Festival is perfect for theater junkies, with authentic performances put on in an elegant outdoor theater. There are lots of other nearby attractions but it all depends on personal preferences.
