Donovan was fairly responsive to messages, although pick up and drop off were coordinated through someone else. They were an hour late when I went to pick up the van, and I got excuses like traffic, waiting for the van to dry after being cleaned, and putting gas in it, but I’m fairly sure traffic wasn’t an issue that day, the gas tank was only 1/4 full, and I would have been happy to deal with a little cleaner on the floors if it meant I wouldn’t have to wait. There were lots of little fixes that need to be made to the van, like cabinets falling apart and latches being stuck. I was told the van had off-grid heating, but the tiny electric space heater provided would only run on shore power. The heater ran all night and couldn’t keep up in freezing temps. The van stayed around 50-55 degrees, even with the window insulation screens in place. The toilet was fine for #2, but when I got the van, the urine tank was completely full and was frozen solid, so I couldn’t even empty it. The van has a tail light out and the license plate lamps were out as well. I’m glad I didn’t get pulled over. I understand the limitations of a converted van, but overall, this was an uncomfortable trip.

My fiancé and I were looking for a unique way to spend our anniversary amidst the pandemic so we loaded up or snowboards and wiener dog (Archie) to head for the Northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan.

Donovan was excellent and easy going for a first time vanner. He answered my questions quickly. He explained the in and outS of his van. My dog and I had a blast on lake St. Clair and Huron.
