Middleburg is located about 26 miles to the southwest of Jacksonville in the northeast corner of the state. Middleburg is a relatively small town that primarily serves as a bedroom community for Jacksonville. So while there’s not a great deal to do in town, it’s a great place to base your Middleburg RV rental when exploring this region of Florida as it has a few RV parks, while still being close to all of the major attraction, including the beach.

Public Transportation in the Middleburg region is provided by Clay Transportation, which has seven bus lines, one of which transfers at the Orange Park Mall to the bus system of Greater Jacksonville. Ultimately though, getting around via the area’s public transportation system will be very time consuming, so you should plan on driving to most of the attractions when you book an RV in Middleburg.

Exploring the City of Middleburg

Middleburg doesn’t have too many big name attractions, so you’ll have to expect that driving to nearby towns will be a part of renting an RV here. That being said, there are a few interesting places that can be reached without driving all the way to Jacksonville.

While there’s not too much shopping in Middleburg proper, it does have an antique store. This store has tons of interesting stuff for sale and browsing through everything feels like an adventure in itself. To visit an actual shopping mall you’ll need to drive 20 minutes to the Orange Park shopping center, which has dozens of brand name retailers.

Visitors who are fans of military history will enjoy the Camp Blanding Museum and Memorial Park in nearby Starke. The museum covers some of the history of Camp Blanding during World War II via a restored barracks. However, if you’re bringing the kids along, one of the best places to visit is Jumperz Fun Center in Orange Park, which features 12’ inflatable slides, dozens of arcade games and laser tag-like games. Families will also enjoy attempting to find their way out of the Locked In Escape Room.

If a cultural trip to Jacksonville with the Middleburg rental RV is in the cards, you’ll almost certainly want to hit up some of the great museums in town like the Contemporary Museum of Art, the Museum of Science and History, and the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens. Football fans will also want to grab tickets at TIAA Bank Field for a Jaguars game.

Getting Outside Near Middleburg

While Middleburg isn’t exactly near the beach, most visitors to northeastern Florida will probably want to spend some time there. The closest ones can be found in Jacksonville and St. Augustine, both about an hour away in the Middleburg rental motorhome. For an outdoor experience closer to Middleburg, the Black Creek Trail in Orange Park is one of the best places to go for a run or short stroll. It’s not very long though, so riding a bicycle here might not be the most exciting choice. The Jennings State Forest is another great option with several hiking trails available for exploring the woods.

If you’re visiting during the fall, the kids will love the Amazing Grace Crop Maze. Not only will they be challenged to find their way out of the corn stalks, there’s also a petting zoo, pumpkin patch, and hayrides available. Those hoping to hit the links while on the Middleburg, FL camper rental vacation will be pleased to know that there are a number of great golf courses close to Middleburg, too.
