The campervan had warning for engine from the beginning and we had difficulty to get out the first campsite due to the poor engine. My husband had to check the level and we had to put coolant the first day as it was under the low limit.
We did not used the shower and toilet, honestly you don’t need it, all our campsites were well equipped.

Our adventure started off with a clean, well-organized campervan. It was banged up with dents, scratches, broken side window, and broken hinges on the cabinets from previous campers, but we were excited to hit the road. Our contact, Matt, was very knowledgeable, and friendly and offered some good suggestions.

Fabulous perfect trip for me! I’m used to driving large vehicles on narrow twisting rural roads and I’m an introvert who likes to travel alone and camp alone. I also have a lot of experience with small travel trailers so the various accoutrements were familiar to me. If you aren’t used to these things then a how-to video would be helpful. The county parks online reservations made it easy to plan as I went. This camper had absolutely everything I needed except my personal items and food. I’d do it again in a heartbeat! I only gave 4 stars on value because I found no way out of the insurance charge and my own insurance covered the vehicle plus a LOT more. I think having the amount of insurance I already carry should have let me opt out of the extra charge.

Overall good experience. The van has seen better days. Several of the windows don’t open, which is a bummer. The bathroom closes, but not without some finesse.

It was easy to book. We were reminded when payments were due. Our van was ready on time at the airport as promised. It was really fun and a convernient way to see the island. We camped in beautiful, memorable locations which enhanced our trip. They were always responsive to any questions we had. The security deposit was credited quickly after completion of our trip. Beth-Ann was a great communicator! We recommend Campervan Hawaii!

We had an AMAZING adventure. From the time we picked up the van till we dropped it off, we loved it! Now, we're thinking of getting one to use wherever we go.:) We'd highly recommend it as a way to see the island. It's like bringing your hotel room everywhere with you plus more. We would recommend booking on Hipcamps along the island though. Don't believe what you read about being able to just park anywhere. NOT on this van. lol The staff of Outdoorsy are also Super Amazing. They're so easy to communicate with and everybody's very helpful. They made sure our adventure will be smooth and great. We can't thank you enough! Mahalo!

Loved exploring the Big Island by campervan. It was fun and convenient to have everything with you all along the way. We traveled with our two young boys and it was great to make food when we needed to and always have stuff on-hand. We camped at beach parks, a Mac-nut farm and nature park. Great experience! Also, recommend using “Shaka Guide” tour app for your drive.

Overall a great experience! We had a blast exploring the island and national park, meeting some great people and seeing some amazing sights. Owners were very receptive to a couple of suggestions we made to help make the experience perfect for renters. Highly recommend!

I rented Ho'okipa for a two weeks - driving all over Maui with my wife and 2 children (aged 4 and 1) - in Summer 2018. The van was really reliable and, most importantly, the guy Brian who met us was really helpful, kind and friendly. A good holiday relies on the people you interact with and all the dealings I had with Campervan Hawaii just helped make everything run smoothly from beginning to end. A lot of people we met along the way really admired the van. The van is undeniably cool - especially compared with the other campervans we saw around the island. Recommend this company highly. Campervan Hawaii in Maui are awesome!!!!! Super easy to meet right at the airport. Check in and check out was easy and fast. They answered all my questions and were really friendly. The van itself was really comfy and had everything we needed for a 8 day trip. Can't wait to use Campervan Hawaii again.

The Camper Van couldn't have been any nicer!! Well thought out design and plenty of room for two on our week long tour of Maui!! The van is very thoughtfully outfitted for most of your needs while on the road & if I had read closer I would have known there were even jumper cables on board that we could have helped other campers during our week - oops! Felt guilty at times running the A/C in the early evenings when other's were nearby roasting in their rented VW buses or tents on the roofs vehicles! I would say that those that have camped on the mainland in national parks might be a little disappointed that the national park on Maui isn't quite as nice of facility as you might be accustomed but the van more than makes up for the lack of amenities. Our pick-up & drop-off went seamlessly and Brian couldn't have been more helpful in briefing us on the all the capabilities of the Hymer camper van!! The van handles very well even on the trip to Hana and back and you can park just about anywhere without worry for space when visiting Lahaina or other cities. A BIG thumbs up!!

These Hymers are gorgeous. Definitely turned heads, including ours. Fridge, cook top, dinning area, were ideal. Perfect open air circulation through sliding side door & back doors. Can't beat the Hawaii scenery & chance to see it away from the crowds.

We had a great time and loved our van, "Maui Wowie." The folks at Campervan Hawaii were helpful and professional in every way, the van was stocked with everything you need, and we loved the bathroom... a great luxury! Definitely glad we did this and look forward to doing again.

This van is perfect for us. I don't understand how anyone can call it "expensive" - have you looked at hotel prices on Maui lately? This van is your hotel and rental car all wrapped up into one package. High-end van with all of the amenities you would expect. Brian and Sean are awesome. We have rented this van from them twice and will be renting from them a third time in a few months. The great thing about being in this van is that you feel like you are always outside, enjoying the island's beaches and beauty. Highly recommend.

While this rental is a little on the expensive side, it was awesome. We took our time on Maui, staying in the two national park campgrounds and the state park on black sand beach. the van was awesome for us. no rushing. just watch out on the road to Hana. Take the turns widely, or you might damage this beauty. One thing to watch for: theres really nowhere to refill the water tank unless you know someone you can hook up to, so conserve water wherever possible. also i highly recommend the "dont #2 in the RV rule", better yet, just don't go the the bathroom in it if at all possible. You CAN, and its perfectly fine, but if youve ever dealt with a marine commode or RV commode, it can stink up the joint. Generally a wise idea regardless of RV or boat... not a reflection on the rental itself, just good advice.

Absolutely loved seeing Maui from a camper van. These Hymer's are by far the nicest and newest camper vans on the island. Sean and Brian were great to communicate and work with. Would definitely rent from them again!
